I don't like Sessions' game at all. He can stuff a stat sheet but has never helped a team win basketball games.

He'd be an upgrade over Jeremy Lin though, and that's all that matters at this point. This is a solid team that isn't going to ask him to do too much. I think it would be a solid move to pick him up right now.

I think Sessions is a pretty good player and would be happy to have him on this team, but he wouldn't be what I'd call an UPGRADE over Lin (all else equal, which it obviously isn't).

Both are pretty good with the ball in their hands. Both can get to the FT line. Both are sub-par defenders. But...

    Jeremy Lin's 3pt%
    In 2013-14: .358
    Career: .343

    Ramon Sessions's 3pt%
    In 2013-14: .311
    Career: .282

On a team where the PG needs to be a spot-up shooter a lot of the time, Sessions does not present much of a 3-pt threat to opposing defenses.

Again, I'd gladly take Sessions for $2-3 million for the backup PG spot over Lin at a $8.37 million cap hit (and $14.9 million payout), especially if the savings can be re-allocated elsewhere.

But all else equal, I'd take Jeremy Lin over Ramon Sessions.

Exactly right. The bench needs punch, especially offensively. Sessions could easily fill Lin's 6th man role from last year and provide valuable insurance if Bev gets injured. He's also less turnover prone.

I actually like Ish. But trading for Sessions while having 3 other guards is stupid. Morey making the same mistake he always does, overstocking at one position and ignoring all the others. Can we actually get a real PF please?

The simple fact that there are so many on the roster goes to show that they really don't have any outside of Bev.

Daryl Morey: We have to go. Now.

Gersson Rosas: Why? We just got here.

Daryl Morey: We have to go. I just sharted.

    Gersson Rosas: What?

Daryl Morey: I tried for Bledsoe, a little Sessions came out. I sharted.

Gersson Rosas: Are you kidding me?

But maybe that's the plan? Sessions as part of all this, with the Bucks' Ilyasova with the TPE for not much in the way of assets? (Or some such thing.)

By the way, the next time Alex Kennedy is right about something might be the first.

Sessions is probably one of many contingency plans should we get Boshed in our pursuit of a Point Guard who Sucketh Less.

I'll take Alex Kennedy a little more seriously after he turns 15.

Sessions and Lin are roughly equivalents, with Lin a bit better scorer, while Sessions is more of a facilitator with a much lower TO%.

As a guy off the bench I will take Sessions any day of the week.

It depends on the need. Sessions is decidedly better than Lin at avoiding turnovers (for career, 2.7 turnovers vs. 3.4 turnovers per 36 minutes), at getting to the line on offense (about 2 more per game) and avoiding fouls on defense. More efficient, less upside but also less volatility. And while the shooting is generally important, you could argue that the Rockets are going to have more shooters overall this year (Ariza > Parsons, Daniels in rotation full-time, K-Pap), making them better equipped to survive a PG without a reliable 3-point stroke.

Again, I'm not necessarily saying that I'd take Sessions over Lin for the 2014-15 Rockets, if you held a gun to my head and made me choose. :) I'm just saying you could make a case. I think it's close.

I don't think it really matters if it is an "upgrade" - because their production is comparable no matter what. I think what matters is we aren't going to pay 15 million for Sessions.

If Morey can sign Sessions and then use the TPE, the offseason would have turned out on a good note.
