Definitely. The exposure Brown, James, and EZ got helped then sign with teams after they were released. Without James's exposure they may have been able to retain them on the practice squad.
They should just do this every year for the Texans with the local news. Makes preseason a lot more interesting.
The local news has not evolved in their ability to cover local sport's practices/training camps since the 80's... and ABC 13 had a hard enough time putting together a competent preseason game broadcast.
The NFL limits filming of TCs. There are specific TC practices that even though reporters are allowed to attend, they can not speak of what they saw beyond basic player was good/bad praticed/didn't practice. Once the regular season begins, practices are nearly all but cloaked under a Vail of silence. Of what does get out, is what the team/NFL allows. The entire process is very controlled.
Which is why I have no faith that the local news could pull off anything close to this sort of production as the other post suggested.

yeah. I was curious why/how Nix could have been left out so much but then i realized it's because he's terrible and i'm glad they didn't waste time on that wasted pick.
It seems to be a recurring event with ABC 13 and preseason games. Every year they have problems broadcasting them.
I haven't seen any of the previous seasons, but does HK usually cover fringe or bubble players to the extent that they did with the Texans...because that's where the drama is? I wonder if HK wanted to give more time to some bigger name players (on the field) but the Texans said not to use too much of that footage for competitive reasons. With no HK, the casual fan wouldn't even hear about these guys that got so much air time...James, EZ, Brown, Labhart, etc. Now some of them become fan favorites and you hear some disdain from fans about a guy like James, who IMO, was exposed defensively against the Cowboys' 3rd stringers and was rightfully cut. With no HK, most people would've never heard of him. Great series, though. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing so much stuff behind the scenes.
