For y'all joking about sea level rise, it seems kind of appropriate. But the city has doubled down on developing its lowest area (used to be where a big marshy creek met the Bay). It's all on fill soil that will liquify in an earthquake. This photo is more about the new UCSF Mission Bay campus, but you can see AT&T park as the black oval to the top right of the campus, and the new arena we're talking about would stick out near the bridge. Maybe it is on pontoons and will float. (warning: image is very big!) Spoiler
Ugh, traffic (foot and car) is already bad there because of AT&T park. I usually take the Embarcadero to Columbus Ave (by way of North Point) when I check in at the Fisherman's Wharf Holiday Inn. It's gnarly through there.
I'm pretty sure hurricanes are a east coast thing. Over the pacific I think they call them typhoons or tsunamis. But I think they only travel westward through the ocean. That's why all hurricanes hit the eastern seaboard in the US and typhoons or tsunamis hit places like Japan.
