In all seriousness this has to be one of the worst if not the worst year management wise for Morey, I understand letting go of Ariza because they couldn't afford paying 15 mil and Luc is not the same player after that injury, but going after MCW and Ennis is really ****ing stupid and not being able to go after or cash in on some serviceable players in the offseason is really questionable, the front court has been suffering all season long and even slightly from last season and no move was made for some quality backup big yet
The Front Office this offseason had to go out and try to get LeBron James or Paul George, neither were interested. Bottom of the bargain bin and sign Carmelo Anthony, James Ennis, MCW, trade for Knight, Chriss. All of them have zero potential, non rotational players. Daryl deserves the biggest blame, while including 1st Rd Pick to trade away his own mistakes.
yes they are lowballing House... but not bc Tilman is cheap, but bc we only have a portion of the mle left to spend - and Morey thinks he's going to get some great buyout player... I'm sure we will spend every dollar we are permitted to spend... DM just isnt convinced that money should be spent on House...
didn't harden speak out to the media once about needing help? then mauri went and got a glassmade cp3.
just like pretty boy parsons who think he's an average player but still a scrub that demands a lot of money
Get Harden some help or he's gonna request a trade. He's already the greatest scorer in Rockets history but it's a team sport, and he ain't got no team.
Meanwhile the FO of GSW have Cousins back in their next games. It does not take much to be better than the Melo deal.
Yeah, that Anderson trade was a total bust. I don't know how he's doing in Phoenix and I don't care. We could use a big body right now. Hell, even when Capela was healthy, we still needed another backup 4/5. Chriss was always a gamble since he'd been a scrub with the Suns, but Knight has been a total waste. And he's back in street clothes yet again with his knee problems. I think this is more on Morey than Tilman right now. Ariza walking was inevitable. Even if Phoenix hadn't thrown 15 mil his way, some other team was gonna offer at least 10 and he simply isn't worth that and the luxury tax expense at age 33 and on a steady decline(especially after that 0-12 Game 7 performance). But everything Morey did this past summer failed spectacularly. Melo was a disaster. Not only was he a defensive nightmare as expected, but he temporarily cost them Bzdelik which(coupled with injuries) resulted in the poor start to the season that they may never dig themselves out of. Then there were the cheap signings like Michael Carter-Williams and James Ennis III, neither of which panned out. Meanwhile, we let Luc Mbah a Moute get away. And then we tried to go even cheaper by picking up guys like Clark, Hartenstein, and House off the scrap heap. Now I like Clark, but he shouldn't be getting minutes on a contender barring injuries. And House shouldn't be starting for a contender. And now we're really up sh-t creek because of a rash of injuries. Capela was a freak accident and that's not on Morey. But Nene missed over a month to start the season and was our only reliable backup big, so it IS on Morey that it's late January and we still haven't acquired another big body we can throw out there. Also, CP3 is injury prone and you have to price in at least 20-25% of the season missed by him every single year. Thankfully Austin Rivers fell into our lap, so we're ok there(for now). But Eric Gordon has also been injury prone prior to coming here(and he did miss some time last season), and this is where the failed Knight trade is biting us in the ass. And to add insult to all of our injuries, Morey decided now of all times to have a standoff with House when he's been starting(and playing well) for us for 10 games because the front office is afraid he could get away from us this summer due to cap restrictions.
The irony of all this is that there are fans talking about the "blessing in disgrace" arguing that Paul, Gordon and Capela would arrive rested to the playoffs, without thinking for a second about Harden. We have an absolutely unbalanced bench and a GM that seems to find no answers. If Morey does not find solutions quickly, the season could be in danger.
Well that decision already cost us one game. Let's hope Morey can get someone better than Joe Johnson. I think of Rivers as the buy-out player we acquired. IMO, MLE money for house is a bargain. He's a legitimate 3&D wing and elite spot up shooter.
They made bad decisions, but this season is more on health than anything else, although the Melo and MCW signings were really bad. What worries me more, is the fact we are hard balling a guy like House, who would probably take a similar deal to Clark. That seems like a money saving thing to do and once Harden declines, I'm scared that we become a franchise that won't pay for a great team. Hope I'm reading this all wrong and Morey really knows something about the buyout market.
I wouldnt go that far. We just didnt have much luck this year, unfortunate we have all these injuries
Imagine your GM waiting for free agency at midnight and the first thing he does is wait at MCW's doorstep and signs him for a million dollar contract. Or signing Ennis and making him a starter then dodge accountability by saying they have to outperform their contracts.
Stop the penny-pincher and scrub moves! Surround Harden while he is in his prime with decent players and not cheap castoffs who nobody wanted. Tillman / Morey...if you want a championship team, p a y t h e p r I c e !
At minimum, Morey and Tilman need to bring House back. If he won't accept a multiyear deal, convert his contract for the rest of the season and let the chips fall where they may come July. We probably would've won last night had he been in uniform. We're unfortunately up sh-t creek without a paddle as far as Capela's injury. Nene is a capable backup in limited use, but we need another big body. But aside from signing some scrub to a 10-day contract, we don't have many options. Our only real tradeable asset is Gordon and I don't think Morey wants to lose him for a 4/5. And by the time the buyout market offers a potential solution, Capela's thumb will have healed.
