The secretary of state is giving weight to a debunked russian myth that the intelligence community debunked years ago...
I disagree with you. Impeachment is part of the constitution, so I guess, at that level it is political. But a lot of people, including people leaving the GOP like Justin Amash and George Will, see this inquiry and upcoming vote as just a necessary part of congressional duty given what Trump and his team have, by all evidence, done. They played goombah with a foreign power, with no perceivable positive outcome for the American people -- just an outcome that would help one GOP politician's career (well, I hope it was just one; wondering about Mr. Devin N at this point). In the America I want to live in, that's not acceptable, by anyone from any party.
All the republicans want is power. They will ignore everything else including the constitution to get it and maintain power They have. By means of the executive branch and most importantly through judicial branch in regards to as appointing federal judges.
I think there's some misunderstanding of what the current impeachment hearings are doing. If I speed 80 and get pulled over, I am not automatically scott-free if the officer did not establish my motive for speeding. It also does not mean I automatically have to pay for the ticket. The ticket is tantamount to a court summons and whether or not I want to challenge the fact. Maybe I can shed some tears while telling a story or explain that my wife is pregnant, and then he'll let me go because my intent or motive had extenuating circumstances... ...But that's not the House's role in these hearings. They're just gathering facts for the upcoming court date. Trump broke the law. Mueller could not indict him under his Constitutional authority. The House can. You speak of motive, but if Joe campaigned against the side Burisma was on when he bragged about sanctions, what would be Biden's motive that seemingly ran against his son's vested interests? Keep in mind that the FBI was investigating both candidates at the time. If there were real suppression, Obama did a **** job keeping Don Juan out of office. That's one way to look at it. Sondland implicated higher ranking cabinet members under oath. Those members are now compelled by Federal court order to testify and break what amounted to a Presidential Gag Order (Executive Privilege or... Obstruction). If you're thinking in the abstract about motive, another thought would be, "what did they have to hide to justify the Presidential Gag Order?" It's not hearsay when Trump and his Chief of Staff admitted it, then back-peddled with the Ukrainian corruption schtick. That's more than probable cause in any situation to look deeper, such as the Secret Service looking into every drunk dial death threat on potus. It's not only Democrats saying these are legitimate grounds for impeachment (again, not conviction). It's not a coup. These are rules stipulated by the Constitution. Well Mueller established intent and motive for Trump to actively collude with Russia and break laws to accomplish that goal. But he also found his stoogies either were too stupid or too stubborn to fully carry out his orders, so woohoo? Mueller laid out other potential crimes but couldn't pursue further. I don't like nepotism, but what do you and Rudy G. think Joe B. did to break the law? I already mentioned on the surface that the Bidens' interests for that period in time ran against each others interests. The facts to flip that over would be extremely helpful right now. Hiring someone for their name and possible recognition is not illegal (shudders), else the Trump broodlings (and a shitton of other politicians) would be under deeper doodoo. P.S. That movie scene is appropriate.
Are there any Trump supporters on this board that are bothered by the administration and Republicans knowingly pushing Russian Propaganda that is known to be false? Any other Republicans bothered by this?
They don't care as long as they retain office. I sure am missing that congressional term limit bill my father told me about during Clinton's era...
Oh dear god no you poor b*stard. You want to be the one sober person listening to a bunch of drunks? Unless your plan is to bail out early...?
Well they'll get drunk when they get here to my home, I love them so we'll lock everything that isn't a plastic butter knife and enjoy the evening.
Since it's your house and it'll be secured, pitch a tent in the yard or a cot in the garage and just let them do what they'll do. You'll be asleep. Or conversely, invest in earplugs and lock your bedroom door. Whatever works. I'll be sleeping in the peace and quiet of the barndomenium, so I'll roll about a mile away once I get too annoyed and/or drunk. And then again on Friday...and Saturday...
