It matters because it matters for Trump to get his vengeance on the person he blames for ratting him out. It matters to Astrodome because he sees Trump as his cleric cult figure. There’s just no other way to explain it. Outing the whistleblower solves nothing for Trumps impeachment case but it does create a more autocratic form of government where if you cross the supreme leader, you will be destroyed. Astrodome obviously prefers autocracy and is hostile to having a healthy democracy where we are allowed to speak truth to power.
Vindman was the source of the whistleblower, obviously. Nunes totally boxed him in and it seemed obvious to me that Nunes knew the answer to the question he asked him. The narrative that the WB isn't relevant is only partially true. I don't think anyone cares that the WB blew his whistle. It's the story of how he came across the info and who he collaborated with that is relevant. I can only assume that Schiff doesn't know and is determined not to know the WB's name. But he obviously knows who the person is and that Vindman gave him the info. How else can Schiff deny he knows who the WB is but shut down the question when Vindman stated he doesn't know who the WB is? Out of all the witness so far, I found Vindman to be the least professional of them all. Two of his supervisors noted concerns about him potentially leaking and then what do you know.....they ended up being right. He also seems to be thinned skinned about being beat up on Twitter.
