Hate to break it to you but your 'facts' are wrong. Here is a real 'fact' Republicans don't have 60 people in the Senate Here is another 'fact' Need 60 votes in the senate. Here is another 'fact' Need to have 60 votes in the senate because the democrats filibustered Here is not a fact Republicans have absolute power to end the shutdown at any moment Fact Republicans can't because even if every republican votes yes they don't have the numbers needed Hope this lesson between what is and isn't a fact was helpful to you.
Yes. Apparently. That is why he said what he believes it means during the conversation. I'm more concerned about you not 'getting it' until someone pointed it out to you.
Oh, I get it. It just seems like a really, really smart, self proclaimed genius, should know a bit more than he appears to. He has said he is the President with the highest IQ, yet he doesn’t understand what a ‘clean’ bill is. Even someone with a moderate knowledge of government and language should be able to deduce what a ‘clean’ bill is, yet a self proclaimed genius can’t? Perhaps he’s in over his head.
You can't expect our partisan friends on the left to know things like math or the basics when it comes to how the congress operates. I'm sure many of them think that the 50 Republicans who are able to vote are enough to overcome the filibuster by the Democrats that caused the shutdown.
Jesus JESUS. What you said is correct. Is really worth this much time and energy (and Bobby for that matter) to be so obtuse though? Yes, they do not have absolute power because of those simple numbers. What Sam was specifically referring to is they have the power to stop it by that one measure, being DACA. You though type this comment out for no reason, because it gets no one any where. Would you not assume Sam knows those numbers already? Do we assume you do not know that the Republicans could end this? Unless I am conversing with robots. You people have a finite life and probably should not be wasting it with pointless comments like this. It gets no one any where and is a waste. If you want to actually refer to what he is saying. That Republicans don't "hate brown people." OK I get that
I guess it as then been factually true that every other year that has not been a budget impasse and there hasn't been a government shutdown there have been 60 republicans or 60 Democrats that voted their party line? Or is it possible that this year, under trump and republican majority, there was no effort to engage Democrats in the process? There was no intention to include enough Democrat wishes in the budget proposal that as a result they didn't attract enough Democrat votes? That instead they said.. "we won, we don't need them"? Hopefully this helps you understand how democracy works, and why its important to remember that the government represents ALL Americans, not just republicans, and especially not just the extreme right.
... and just in time, the blonde idiot son speaks out... and explains the real reason we have a government shutdown. Eric Trump says the shutdown is 'a good thing for us,’ politically https://www.cnbc.com/2018/01/21/eric-trump-the-shutdown-is-a-good-thing-for-us-politically.html
Jayne Cobb: Well, what we want and what takes place ain't ever exactly been similar. (Paraphrased) Let's cut all the crap The Demos could give in to this and get assurances of a GOOD FAITH discussion and debate and bill on DACA and the REPUBLICANS would pass their bill In 2 months. . . the Republicans will be like. . . "What promise?" Anyone who thinks a compromise here on behalf of the Demos will lead to cooperation and compromise on DACA later is a fool A fool that has not seen the History of Mitch McConnell and the Criminal bunch There is NO F*CKING WAY IN HELL THAT THE REPUBLICANS WOULD KEEP THEIR WORD ON DACA NONE . .. ZERO . . . . Republicans cannot be trusted. . . .. Lucy has pulled the ball away from Charlie Democrat Brown Folx too many times Rocket River
https://www.military.com/daily-news...s-push-bills-keep-paying-troops-shutdown.html In the Senate, Sen. Jack Reed, a Rhode Island Democrat and the ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, put in a bill called the "Pay Our Military Act" to allow service members to continue to receive paychecks and related compensation over the course of the shutdown. "This bill would make sure that all active-duty, reservists, National Guardtroops, as well as any civilians and contractors working in support of those forces can do their jobs and receive their paychecks," Reed said in a statement. On the House side, Rep. Martha McSally, an Arizona Republican, also introduced legislation that would continue to pay the military and those in the Department of Homeland Security performing national security duties. Her bill would also prohibit members of Congress from receiving a paycheck during the shutdown. https://www.c-span.org/video/?c4710181/senator-mcconnell-objects-military-pay-protection JANUARY 20, 2018 Senator McConnell Objects to Military Pay Protection So did this not happen? So . . . who is holding the purse strings for our boys in the military? Rocket River
The very clear answer is that Trump says one thing (about wanting a solution for DREAMers) for political points, and appears to want something completely different. My impression is that the Dems are tired as he'll of Trump's duplicity and are calling his bluff. If Trump wants to get rid of the DREAMers, he should just say so and try to lead instead of trying to weasel his way into spreading the blame onto congress.
Explain to me why not instead of getting all hysterical Reps better want that discussion considering the president of the USA who has control over their voters wants 2 things, along with the vast majority of the nation. 1. A route for all dreamers to stay/basically amnesty 2. Stronger border security(we know what he deems as stronger border security) so the same mistake from when Reagen amnestied (no solution for the problem to occur again) isn't repeated in 10-20 years time. With that in mind, why wouldn't reps want that discussion? The whole problem is democrats don't want #2. They want this problem, it sends them new voters. They don't want illegal immigration to stop, they don't want to fix the problem. It's the democrats who don't want to have the real in-depth and good faith discussion. The democrats can save all dreamers LONG TERM for the rest of their lives, but they don't want to curb illegal immigration. They are actually screwing over DACA's, because they know reps wont cave to some unfair hostage demand that doesn't fix the root of the problem. They are hijacking the government budget bill, with their demands, which do not solve the problem that led to 800,000+ dreamers (illegal immigration) just to avoid that discussion. it's not even about the 800,000+ dreamers, the majority of government and citizens would like them to stay. It has everything to do with fixing the problem that led to it so that situation doesn't occur again. That is literally what this is all about.
Does anyone believe this picture... the idiot-in-chief sitting there posing holding the phone while wearing a baseball cap? #Phony!
You keep repeating your talking points without answering the question... if trump and the extreme right are interested in fixing DACA why not simply sign that and then address immigration and the spending bill. Or why didn't he (them) agree to the bipartisan bill that did everything at the same time?
Lol at people thinking republicans have nothing to gain from illegal immigration. As if all immigration, legal or illegal, Latin American or otherwise, doesn't lead to more democrats. As if corporations, represented mostly by republicans in Washington, don't benefit. As if their presence here doesn't grow the economy on population growth alone. As if the only true and honest reason to reverse America's open-labor policy isn't one based on race and white nationalism. It's almost refreshing that President Stable Genius is showing its true colors by trying to curb all immigration. Gotta keep America first, he said, and for a reason.
Why not just fund the government and work towards those unrelated things without a government shutdown?
