Flynn, T-Will, Hill, Thabeet all have team options after this season which I doubt will be picked up. These guys suck way too much to have any demand on their own. These guys are perfect fillers to use alongside Martin or Scola in a trade. They are young and cheap, if they work out then great, if not just dont pick up their options and they will be off the books. But we must use them by this deadline or they will be wasted.
Agreed. We already have a full roster not to mention Hayes & Yao. Hayes should be resigned, Yao is iffy due to his injury.
Morey is the master of the almost-got-a high lotto pick non-deal. I'm getting tired of almosts, even though I'm a more-on.
When Flynn was healthy he played well. Playing on Wolves has not been an energizing endeavor post-KG and doing it while hurt doesn't prove his lack of talent to me.
I dont know if anyone else saw this, but somewhere in the mass tweeting I saw this guy tweeting about marcus morris being no 5 on lakers draft board "KevinDing KEVIN DING Quote: Congrats, @dmorey: Rockets just got a guy (Kansas' Marcus Morris) who was top 5 on Lakers' board, I'm told. "
Those 2012-13 team options all need to be picked up or declined BEFORE next season, since they are all on first round rookie scale deals. Some teams have already picked them up on their players, fearing that the lockout might extend past the October 2011 deadline to exercise. So, my guess is that Morey has already decided to decline those options, which would make all four of those guys UNRESTRICTED free agents next summer.
Good point. But those were the rules governing these contracts when they were signed. It's likely that the rules for existing contracts would be grandfathered in to the new CBA.
It may be his "default" choice, unless a new CBA comes along and makes it possible for him to keep some of them. So, what's our roster look like the next time the Rockets take the floor? Any guesses?
Thanks for the info. I guess with the Biedrins thing we're trying to find next year's version of Tyson Chandler. Not a fan of his game at all, though.
Ok cool. So another year of "almost" Morey is master of this "almost" business. I guess we "almost" won a championship *shrugs*
With that said, the Biedrins deal was very interesting. I guess Morey targeted Biyombo, however we got Motiejunas so that can't be too bad. Now the priority is for us to trade away our veterans, so that we can give these young guys plenty of time to develop while setting up for a stacked draft next year. I'd leave the roster to something like this: Lowry/Flynn Lee/Dragic Williams/Morris Patterson/Hill Biedrins/Motiejunas If we can get a roster like that, while getting additional assets, I'd be happy.
