He looked good tonight . Very active on the glass and played well within the offense . As he gets more playing time his shots should start falling and his finishing should improve. He looks much more consistent on D . He doesn't look great at perimeter D , but really what 7 footer outside of Davis and Howard does. He is a smart guy and a hard worker , he should keep getting better and better as the season goes on .
That's not entirely true, Yao was horrible when he came in the league. He worked his butt off with trainers and got better.
He was ok with straight forward passes... But anything other then that and he was back to stone hands... Also, we need some serious help at the 4.. Both DMo and Tjones were looking lost out there... T_Man
If he was't a 7 footer, u would think his position is SG...( completely un-utilized ) The NBA has changed a lot, if you are big you either have Dirk,LMA, etc skills Or DeAndree Jordan physicality to have PT
He does not have an elite skill yet nor does he do everything well enough.... His postgame is good but not great and he misses a lot of good scoring opportunities Other aspects of his are inconsistent and above all rebounding and blocking He is athletic enough but is showing it rarely. He is rarely going for a dunk in traffic. He has this "I am afraid going into the woods again" after having faced those wolves. His passing is above average and so is his position D (still get pushed away) good P and R D, ok screen setter. Conclusion: He is right there where he was ranked before the season (around top 220 NBA player)
D-Mo spoke before he played a game, it has come back and bit him in the ass hard. Wouldn't mind if we got another back-up PF, the guy has so much skill but the NBA seems to be too fast and too physical for him. Maybe he is scared of the woods, not sure what it is. Hope for the Rockets sake he turns it around but he will probably never get it.
This no mystery. Terrence is coming through with his offensive potential and is improving his D. Against starters Dmo can't score that much nowadays, the only effort he can give is on the defensive end. He is doing it ok against 2nd and 3rd string players.
That is a valid argument. Still, I'd like to test DMo out against the OPPs starters and see how he does.
Not really valid, because: a. He's on the floor as 4 with Howard at 5, play against starters mostly b. He's on the floor as 5 with TJones at 4, means both play same time against 2nd string players c. He's with Black or Dorsey on the floor? Thats just little portion of minutes at the end of the games, if there was any.
DMo has become a solid defender and an underrated part of his game is his passing. He always seems to make the right pass and keeps the ball moving and the offense flowing. This is surprising because most thought DMo woul earn playing time based on his offense. His offense I'm afraid to say will never really improve while he is with the Rockets. He just does not get that much time to play to his strengths which is post up down low. That is why TJ will be better on the offensive end as he is more athletic and has more hustle and can get some cheap buckets. DMo however has better defensive awareness, rotations and defensive IQ making him a bette rdefensive player than TJ.
One thing he does drives me crazy is run out to jam some perimeter small. Automatic foul. No concept of positioning in space at all.
