The republican co-sponsor... none other than trump ally matt gaetz... though suspect mcconnell and fellow republican senators will block this again... Bipartisan House duo unveil amendment to block Iran strike without Congress' approval https://thehill.com/policy/defense/...iran-strike-without?__twitter_impression=true
Bully do not like to taste their own medicine. If past trend continue, trump is going to back down. But the problem is Iran, unlike NK, is not going to send a love letter. So ... ah... get ready folks ... for some entertainment.
Iran will get screwed up if they attack us in any significant way. Are they stupid enough? I doubt it. Because if they hit first, then their allies might not be willing to go to bat for them. Bolton and Co. are trying to goad them into a war right now and they want them to throw the first punch in order to have strong international support. An EMP, a dirty bomb, and 9/11, etc. would do it. Or Iran lashing out and hitting the wrong target and pissing the US off. Or for that matter, Iran raising tensions and giving off the right atmosphere so that even a faked attack would be believable and the US could just set something up and use it as an excuse. Bay of Tonkin style. In fact, Iran should consider talking and being publicly open to it and buy time because right now things are looking bad. Most idiots would believe anything, even a faked attack, was their fault at this point.
... and senate republicans, led by mitch mcconnell and texas senator john cornyn, weaken the constitutional-derived checks and balance and allow trump to declare war on iran at any time...
At least, the Criminal in Chief did not say a war with Iran would be quick ... and easy. Donald Trump, who has managed to wreck the 2015 nuclear curtailment accord with Iran and put the two nations on a possible path to war despite saying he doesn’t want one, spouted more disturbing nonsense Wednesday about the situation on a phone call to Fox Business's Mornings with Maria Bartiromo. Asked if the United States would be going to war with the Islamic republic, he fell just short of calling such a war a “cakewalk” for the U.S:
I understand what you are saying ...but I'm not seeing it here. Trump has long been against these types of wars. He wouldn't have picked Bolton if they weren't on somewhat the same page. Actually going to war with Iran doesn't seem to have much benefit for the U.S. BUT having a very aggressive posture towards it does. Puts us in a stronger negotiating position. Bolton's background just makes that posturing all the more credible.
Possible...but still not seeing the US undertake a full out war on Iran. What would be the benefit to us. Now, I can see them goading them into making some mistake that allows major retaliatory action. Yes, it would. But I don't see Iran doing any of those things. I do think this could happen. But I also think our response would be proportionate. We wouldn't go to full out war over this, but we would initiate some retaliatory/debilitating airstrikes. Iran knows this...so isn't likely to trigger such an event. Yes, probably...but again, Iran is aware of this. Looking bad...in what way? Lots of people seem to think we're on the brink of some massive war. We aren't. Let's say something happened that we did respond to...what then? Is Iran going to attack us? No. So, we initiate our response...and it's over.
US just repositioned F-22's to Qatar. https://nationalinterest.org/blog/b...22-raptors-are-now-position-attack-iran-64981
Iran says it will increase uranium enhancement https://www.politico.com/story/2019/07/03/iran-uranium-enhancement-increase-1396652
I think history will show us that this whole Iran building up to war is a crock of **** and pro-war propaganda on the part of the US. Iran couldn't possibly want war with the US.
