Overrated team. I thought they would win 50 games this year and finish 3rd in the east. It's still possible, albeit somewhat unlikely. Overall, most Celtic fans are delusional right now. They continue to point to "we almost beat Miami" last season knowing very well that the Heat's 2nd/3rd best player was out most of the series. Bradley and Green doesn't even that out. Like Knicks fans, they really are betting on rookies/unproven players to improve their team. Knicks fans believe Shumpert is going to make them that much better...the Heat were winning by 26 points before he injured himself in game 1. All that said, Celtics in a playoff series would still be dangerous this year. Might finish as a 6th seed but will play at the level of a 3rd seed. Without Pierce or Rondo having some ridiculous career nights, they will be bounced in the 1st.
because people overrate the **** out of Rondo. He can take a team to the next level when the pieces are together, but he's not the type of player that will elevate a team to a contender by himself like Paul.
They don't suck. This is what they always do now. They limp into the playoffs as a disinterested mid to low seed and then significantly improve their play once they get there. They're going to play like a second or third seed in the East in the playoffs, if that's any consolation.
Celtics starting slow is almost a tradition. If their play doesn't pick up by the All Star Game, then that there's a problem. They're still play off seeded in the crazy weak Eastern conference, so they have lots of time to work it out.
I'm not sure where all this Rondo hate is coming from. The difference between this Celtics team and Celtics teams of the past isn't offense. It's their defense. They've always ranged anywhere from bad to mediocre offense. But their offense had always been top 5ish. Until this season. Just watch the Rockets game to see how they were simply unable to stop us. That Perkins for Green trade may end up being a lose-lose. OKC's at their best playing small-ball with Perkins out of their lineup, while Boston has no interior presence when KG's not playing.
Depends on the players surrounding the PG. If you have a lot of offensive weapons, a passing/passive PG is much better than a scoring one.
Wrong (for OKC). Before the trade, Coach Bonehead did the exact same thing with Green as with Perkins: Give him way too many minutes at the expense of the team. After the trade, Ibaka and Harden blossomed because they finally got full-time minutes. Right.
Simple, Rondo isn't good enough to be the best player on a good team. He isn't even top 5 point guard in this league. Garnett needs to average 20-10 and Pierce has to play like he is 10 years younger. As bad as Perkins is and OKC would probably win championship, if he played less he isn't as bad as Green and he doesn't play 40 minutes per game.
I don't agree with the assertion that they got more minutes because of the trade. But even with that assumption, Perkins got $40mil extension and automatically prevented OKC from giving Harden the max. So if you are correct, then the trade harmed OKC more than it helped them. If Harden didn't play so much, maybe he would've accepted less than max.
And people do realize that Rondo has been the best player on BOSTON for 2 or 3 years now and they were good then.
Then I don't know how you don't see Rondo passing open layups for 17 ft jumpers to stat pad his assists.
Lol @ Deron Williams being better than Rondo I'm done not to mention that Kyrie Iriving is not a better pg than Rajon Rondo. I guess defense doesn't matter these days.
