Be careful. This is no joke. When they say "hot" chicken, they're trying to kill you with the heat level (pepper/hot sauce). If you're not used to eating habaneros, ghost peppers, scorpion peppers, Dave's Insanity sauce, go easy and order the mild or lower the first time. lol.
I disagree with Frenchy's... aka salt-lick chicken... according to my taste buds...That's exactly what I experienced sampling some of their "famous" fried chicken... salt must make the bulk of their recipe's list of ingredients...
Place in the Heights called Bird House that sells chicken. Rode my bike there and had a 2 piece. Kind of expensive though.
Every Friday Paul's Kitchen off of Kirby has a Friday Chicken special. It is literally the best fried chicken I've ever had... and I've eaten fried chicken all over this great nation. They sous-vide the chicken for THREE DAYS and then flash-fry it, drizzle some honey on to it and serve on top of a side or two. They have a "side" special each week but you can order pretty much any side. I recommend the mustard greens, grilled potatoes or pay extra for onion rings. Seriously... go get some there tomorrow. I went there for 8 Fridays in a row with co-workers, it is that damn good. Oh, and when you go there ask for the complimentary biscuits. They serve it with a jalapeno marmalade that is effing amazing. For lunch, half a chicken, side(s) and an ice tea is $20.02. I'd pay twice that, but don't tell them that.
