this has been one of the greatest years in rockets history. i think we will karma our way into a top 3 choice. there is no one i want picking that player than daryl morey. he is a top flight gm. and there is no one i want coaching the player than rick. i think he is still at the top of his game. he is an offensive genius. he is a great communicator. i love watching him weave his team with tenacity and intelligence. do not break this tandem up...morey and adelman should get extended a minimum of four years. just add a couple pieces and we are there!!!
You're a great propagandist. =) Couple of pieces: A center for next season. A small foward with more tenacity than Chase and the big one...Dwight Howard 2012
Enough!!! I Can't Take This Ish No Mo!!! There are no moral victories. Losing should not be praised or rewarded. Injuries and massive contracts sitting on the bench watching are real, however the only thing that matters is RESULTS. I read a post recently that said Morey did an excellent job with what he had to work with. WTF?! Rick Adelman, yes, that would apply to him. But Morey's job is to acquire what's wanted. Keep what's needed. And get rid of waste. Should he be fired? No. But, did he fail this season? YES! I said all of this to say, until mediocrity is no longer tolerated; there is a tendency to remain stuck in it. ala Kobe's rant that was caught by a cell phone cam a few years back. Half a season later the Lakers had set the foundation for a team that would go on to play in three straight NBA Finals winning two championships. Kobe refused to accept mediocrity, and results followed. IMO Morey and Adelman are both GREAT, but there needs to be a shake up. If I were Les: Morey and Adelman both get three year extensions. Here's my logic. Fact: Morey has made promising moves as a GM and Adelman is an exceptional, Hall of Fame caliber coach. You don't just throw that away, not yet anyway. I'd give the two one more season to right the ship before drastic changes are made. If the Rockets have a successful season next year, successful meaning at least a 6-7 game second round playoff appearance, then we stay the course. If not, Adelman goes. He'll get paid for the remaining two seasons of his contract, but he'll be let go. Frankly, he would sacrificed for the sake of change. His coaching style and system would be retained by promoting Elston Turner to head coach. As for Morey, he'd be put on a short leash. And barring any major mistakes or bad moves would be given until the end of his contract to turn the Rockets into constant contenders. If this didn't work, then... Actually, scratch that. This WOULD work. I would tell Morey that HE IS MY MAN. Just as long as he refuses to accept failure and mediocrity. No more of this "we'll be opportunistic and predatory / acquire assets and wait... / look at this iPad and think about signing with us / lets regularly start a 6 foot 6 center because he's our best option" nonsense. I'd say: "I don't know how you're going to fix it, and frankly, I don't care. If you need it and can show me why, it's yours. But here's what I do know: YOU WILL FIX IT." Just what I think and what I'd do...
