He is like the anti-drayton. He spends money on the draft and not old washed up veterans.

Morey finds a gem. Let's them establish their game, and then trades them at a higher value than the original pick.

Applaud Les for the willingness to go over the cap. That being said, it's almost a must for any team truly wants to have a shot at championship in today's NBA.

It's a matter of when, not if...

    Disagree.

Les cares too much about money.

Morey (or coach RA) did find a few good players from late first round or second round. But I wouldn't expect any team to win a champ by just doing that.

    ....

Please give specific examples as to how he has cared too much about money.

How old are you? Because, I can understand someone who is too young to remember the days of Drexler, Barkley, Pippen, and even Steve Francis saying that. But seriously, Les has NEVER let any expense get in the way of bringing this city a championship....on and off the court. Of course Les cares about money.....nobody gets to be as successful as him WITHOUT caring about money. But, don't get it twisted.....he is every bit as dedicated to bringing the Rockets to the promised land as are the players, the coaching staff, and Daryl Morey. Without him, nothing is possible.

We know Les is willing to spend when necessary, but that shouldn't be considered as an advantage. There're multiple teams in NBA has similar, if not better talent than Rockets even if we land Bosh in the offseason(expect Brooks or Scola with some young talent or picks out as well). And they spend excessively, sometimes way over the luxury tax to contend.

So if the goal really is a championship as claimed by Les/Morey, such spending is a must for us to have a chance. Without it we should expect playoff success at most, and with it we are still not better than Cavs, lakers, Magic, Boston, Spurs...

If playoff and building a good team is the goal, fans should be happy about where we are. But championships? It's just the beginning.

Yup, no team wins championships with second round steals.

Not alot people realize how great owner, GM, and Coaching staff that we do, but we just have been unfortunate with all the injuries that our stars had.

    1. the chance of this kind of steal is like 1 in 1600.
    2. Manu-like steal still needs Duncan to make sense.

We definitely need to see a Duncan on the team before we are talking too much about the bargains, steals and giving too much credits to Les and Morey.

So, what odds do you give the Rockets for getting a Duncan? Any plans for making sure we get a Duncan? Thanks.

The chance of getting a Manu is much less than getting a Duncan. USA basketball world generates a Duncan each other year but only saw a Manu in two decades. Plus there is a sure way to get Duncan while there is no way to get Manu other than by luck.

Tanking or sucking is the way, the only reasonable way for rebuilding.

Getting into the top picks and try the luck there is much much quicker than trying your luck in second round picks.

Aside from few sure things like Shaq and LeBron, it still need good GM to find Durant, Howard, Paul, Williams and Roy also lucks to avoid Yao, Griffin and Oden.

If we are in the top 10 in every draft like Thunders, we might have found our franchise player and being a contender already given we have Morey .........
