Texas High School Football Players Could Face Criminal Charges for Blindside Hit on Referee

Lol I didn't see the video until after the post. Thought it was more of a subtle thing where they happened to fake miss a tackle or something and collide into the ref.
Still don't think it warrants a ban. Criminal charges, community service, suspension sure.

Who didn't predict that would happen afterwards? Easy way to get some sympathy back on your side. Though it gets pulled so often it's hard to take seriously anymore.

They definitely should be banned from HS football. No excuse for their actions. I hope they face criminal charges (be placed on probation). Referees have actually been killed by taking cheap shots. This is a no laughing matter.

 

Two players should be banned. Assistant coach should be fired. School should have some degree of punishment. Even *if* the ref said or wrote anything that was considered racist, one of the same two that hit the ref followed it up with a flagrant hit on the opposing QB on the next play.

A few months ago a catcher in a girls softball game hit two runners as they approach the plate. And a few months ago, a girls basketball team purposely and blatantly threw a game to avoid playing a better team.

Players, coaches, and school administrators have to need to fix things... its gotten really broken...

 

LMAO typical eggball - no talent, non athletic, fake tough guy sport where players are taught to cheat and even encouraged to perform preposterous acts by coaches like deliberately beat up the referee. Since no toughness is needed to play the sport the players show their fake toughness to the refs LOL

Yeah, I'm pretty sure those are actually written and well-known rules.

 

There was someone claiming to be a John Jay player posting in the Deadspin comments not long after it was first posted saying that the ref dropped an n-bomb or two.

Still, it's hard to know if that's the truth or if he was just trying to drum up sympathy. And even if it was the truth, report the ref to the appropriate governing body and get him fired instead of taking things into your own hands and causing this mess.

IT'S THE PATRIOTS WHO SHOULD BE BANNED FOR LIFE FOR MASSIVE CHEATING!.

 

Ban or no ban, don't really care about that. It was assault and they should be charged for assault. What the school or the interscholastic league does about it is their own business, but this is a criminal matter where the prosecutor should be involved. Why should law enforcement look the other way just because their kids or just because it was in an organized sporting event?
