These are two significant signings - and they aren't Jags/Jackson-level overpays; speaks volumes to how players perceive BOB - I wonder if Hard Knocks had some impact...
legitimate question? I mean, why does anyone turn down money? I've turned down more money for a different job many times. Better fit/comfort, better role, preferred location, preferred boss/coworkers...all important things. People value them differently. I'd argue that at the scale of money these guys are talking about, it's way easier to turn down more money in the NFL than in "real life", based on those type of factors. Given that the $25M+ he'll have in the bank at the end of his career will be way more than he needs if he's remotely smart about it
Jesus Bobby, free agency is like 90 minutes old. Settle down man. We didn't have a running back and now we do. That's a good thing no matter how you slice it. There is no proof that signing Miller and Brooks were mutually exclusive.
I never suggested that signing Miller had anything to do with losing Brooks, I'm saying that the team downgraded the O line, and that's a problem. We've done this before just a few years ago if you've forgotten and it was tragic.
Understood, but you're crapping on the OLine in the Miller thread. C'mon man... have a little fun instead of constantly being rain on everyone's parade.
no, but i looked it up and the deals were similar. Green was 4/23, Miller 4/24. Green had so many more miles though. Terrible deal at the time. I love the Miller signing.
The league has wised up to overpaying RB since then. In a way, Miller's deal is much larger given the state of the league.
I like the signings it's just that Brooks was a MUST keep guy. I remember the patchwork O line we went with the season after we did this last time and I just don't want to see that again. I like the Miller signing, I just think getting a RB and QB while letting the O line suffer, especially right in the middle, is foolish.
Getting a QB/RB in Free Agency should attract offensive lineman. I'd rather have this problem versus not having a QB/RB right now by a mile. Now when the Texans head into the draft they can really pick their poison.
We could literally sign Bobbythegreat to play running back and it would probably be a better move than the Ahman Green signing.
no **** it's a problem, that's why they're signing Allen and still have all of FA and the draft to address it. but don't let that stop you from b!tching.
if miller is as good as people say he is, then brooks replacement will be fine. I just like to keep continuity on the line and keep the gems the team found.
Young, light workload, and pretty good*, I guess. Dude averaged 12+ ypc against us.. and 3.9 vs everyone else. *edit* nevermind, he beasted 5.1 ypc in '14. Nice.
