So funny. Word out of joint practices was defense looks great, QB looks questionable, WR surprisingly good. Preseason game? QB looked solid except for some blown plays (either him or receiver) and the defense looked like total crap.
@HoustonTexans We have released the unofficial depth chart for Sunday vs the Saints #HOUvsNO » 8/27, 7:00 p.m. CT on FOX
Wow, we're actually getting pressure to the QB with our defensive line? Damn, it's been a long time since that's happened.
Texans training camp is over. Reverting to regular season rules where we get to watch first 20 min of practice. So no observations today other than attendance. Christian Kirksey was working on the sidelines. He’s still on the mend. Texans fullback Andrew Beck not here in practice Texans wide receiver Tank Dell is practicing Texans RB Dare Ogunbowale not practicing today. Was not dressed out Saturday. Texans DE Chase Winovich is working on a side field away from the team. Texans QB Case Keenum is back practicing Texans backup QB Case Keenum is back practicing. He missed last week. Texans DT Hassan Ridgeway is back in pads practicing Texans right tackle Tytus Howard has a cast on his left hand again today. It was off before Saturday’s preseason game. New Texans CB Cameron Dantzler wearing No. 20
Their DL depth chart is impressively deep, I'd say the deepest position on the team. And I trust Ryans to know how to rotate/utilize them.
Man, Heck must be hurt really bad. He's missed all of TC. Can't count on him as depth for at least six weeks, maybe longer
Texans only team that haven’t named a starting QB for week 1, say competition still on between Stroud and Miles. Me personally, if I’m not starting Stroud, I’m starting Keenum
Texans punter Cam Johnston has a pulled calf muscle, per source. Could return Week 1-2. The injury is not considered serious, per source. There's a possibility he is placed on injured reserve, which would keep him out until Week 4. But there's an expectation Johnston could be back before then. The Texans sign P Ty Zentner, while releasing CB Darius Phillips and waiving T Jacky Chen. Texans defensive tackle Thomas Booker and defensive end Chase Winovich are working on a separate field. Still returning from injuries. Texans wide receiver John Metchie is back today Texans right tackle Tytus Howard dressed out wearing a cast on his left hand. Howard is dressed out. But he’s not warming up with the rest of the team.
Waived - A non-vested player (less than four years of service) who is terminated goes through waivers. When he is released another team can claim him within a certain period of time. A vested veteran only goes through the waiver system from the trading deadline in midseason through the end of the season. During the offseason and all the way up to the trading deadline, a vested veteran gets released. Released - A vested veteran is free when he is terminated and can sign with any club. Keep in mind, if the termination takes place between the end of the trading deadline and the end of the calendar year, the player goes through waivers. A vested veteran released this time of year is free to sign with any team. Cut - An unofficial term for being terminated and one of the above two categories applies.
