So, is JJ Watt a once in a generation talent as well? Does it make any logical sense that there can be more than just one "once in a generation" talents per generation... and somehow they're both on the same team? I do think Clowney played better without Watt, and Watt has already previously shown the ability to raise the line play without Clowney. They did not complement each other. I also feel like with any supposed once in a generation player, it shouldn't be that hard for them to find a way to be dominant. As far as positions go, Clowney was often given free reign to do whatever the F he wanted to do... He did have trouble getting off the line/setting the edge from a stance. So they let him roam free and upright, filling A gaps... that was also not as consistent as it could have been.
Maybe Seattle should have traded for Oline help? Their line looks like the Texans last year, even with Duane Brown.
U are deluding yourself if your believe trading Clowney for sht is good for the franchise. If he was toxic to the club, trade him for something impactful or sit his ass out. The steelers were able to trade prime diva Brown for better than what we got. We have the money, if this is how we get rid of all impactful players that throws a hissy fit or a contract dispute, what's stopping future similar situation from happening.
Let me check my sauces. Funny that he is currently playing for a team getting paid the same he would have if the Texans didn't insist on trading him.
So if the Texans were offering $5 million, Clowney is wrong for asking more? It is obvious they didn't want him on the team anymore. They wouldn't even let him play on the franchise tag THEY signed him to. They had no intention of him being a Texan in 2019
I don't remember him ever reporting. The texans tried to trade him for a LT, Clowney found out and then stated he wouldn't play for the Dolphins, then the reports of him sitting out missing games and then he stated his trade destinations. It's not like he tried to report and play for the Texans on the franchise tag and the Texans replied with a stern nope.
