As long as the stadium keeps selling out and money keeps flowing in, the Texans will be considered successful and everyone in the organization gets rewarded. Since BOB hasn't driven all the season ticket holders out the door, clearly he deserves an extension.

One can agree or disagree on whether this is the right way to run a sports team, but it works fine from a business standpoint.

But we all know it’s by far the most important position, and most important piece of the puzzle.

If your franchise QB wants a certain coach, and he happens to be playin very good with him, you don’t **** with that.

And if Watson continues to develop/play well, I guarantee they’ll win a good number of games with this “garbage” roster.

i'm ok with it I guess. All the built in excuses are gone now. He has delivery now. No more 9-7 crap. Remember on hard knocks when he talked about "how nobody in the league takes the Texans seriously"? Well he was suppose to change that. He got everything he wanted so lets see it

The stadium will sell out no matter what. The Rockets are one of the best teams in the NBA. The Texans are a mediocre to bad team and the Texans dominate the rockets in terms of TV/Radio/News Paper coverage here. It is all Texans all the time. It doesn't matter who coaches or what their record is.

James Franklin has done a better job than Bob. He has mediocre everywhere he has been except for the new england, but he keeps getting promoted and extended. It makes no sense.

And like I've said, Watson doesn't need OB to be good, but the rest of the roster does need to be good for this team to pretend it's trying to win a championship. And OB has proven he can't build a contender.

You can’t prove anything on that side of the argument. While it’s pretty clear to say no NFL head coach has been consistently good without great QB play.

Again, if you want to **** with what they’ve already accomplished, and you don’t want to give them a chance to build on it, you’re even more ignorant than you claim the Texans or OB or Rick Smith or McNair is.

26K on the waiting list, waiting to eat this up.

Rockets couldn't get 26K fans into Toyota Center if they wanted to. (Capacity 18K but you know what I mean.)

Your first paragraph doesn't exactly support keeping O'Brien.

And they haven't accomplished anything. They were 3-4 with Watson.

Watson has the potential to make BOB into Knute Rockne. They did work really good together. OBrien got the extension because DeShaun wants him to stay period.

LOL, local sports gossip media crossing their fingers so hard hoping the Texans fail so Rick can return.

None have done so needing to replace 4 starters, maybe 5, on the offensive line.

This is a bad roster. Can't fix everything that needs to be fixed overnight, especially without a #1 or #2 pick and a horrible free agent OL class.

Going to take time to unf*#% this roster -- don't buy the setup the local hacks are selling.

Keep digging in on saying absolutely anything to feed your overbiased/overdiscussed/overkilles viewpoint.

You know exactly what the offense was doing those games. You know exactly what sort of improvement Watson was making game to game.

    Don’t be a trash/ignorant Texans fan.

Yes the offense was good but the defense was atrocious. My point is that they cannot build a good complete roster.

Exactly. This is what will happen. The team will be bad and McNair may turn to Rick.

Your’re that ignorant to think it’s impossible?

You, and every other hot take expert, thought the defense was miles ahead of the offense going into last season.

This is the same oline that was part of the highest scoring offense with a healthy Watson.

There’s been teams in worse situations and they turned it around within a season.

A good qb makes all the difference. Texans will be fine.

    Impossible?

No, but O'Briens track record of building a roster is bad.

But the defense was great in 2016! But he gets no credit for that, but gets the blame when they’re bad in 2017.

I think even you don’t believe half the garbage you post. You’re getting close to exceeding the guy everybody has on ignore now.

So 4 years of saying "I have to coach better" after 50+% of the games, even to the point of giving up some of his head coaching duties to Romeo Cronnel (what exactly does he do?) so he could focus on coaching better (but not actually doing so) gets you a 4 year extension?
