Brian Smith of the Chronicle is roasting BOB every way possible. Some testy pressers ahead.

Good enough?? They were gifted 14 points by KC blunders, and couldn't move the ball at all for 3 quarters. The offense was putrid, and the defense was downright ****ing pathetic. And the offense isn't the only responsibility of Billy O. He's the ******* HEAD COACH AND GENERAL MANAGER. He's supposed to build a complete roster, and then coach that roster to its full potential. Robbing Peter to pay Paul is not the way he should be building this team. It isn't a zero sum game where you can only have one good unit....you need to have ALL facets firing at the same time. The defense SHOULDN'T have been decimated the way it was just so our offense could basically trot out there and do exactly what it did last year.

Oh, and winning a playoff game against a 2nd year QB who was clearly shook in his first playoff appearance is not an accomplishment you should be touting for a head coach going into his 7th season.

    1. Yes they have 60 million in cap space
    2. That cap space will go mostly to resigning Watson(~38M), Tunsil(~19M), and Cunningham(~12M).

Given these extensions 60M is not enough to complete all 3 let alone sign any free agents. In this scenario as well, Roby and Reader both walk and will be replaced by minimum guys or rookies. So yes, they have 60M technically, but they dont really.

In order for them to resign all 3 players they will need to remove cap dollars somewhere, hence the trade rumors surrounding McKinney. Expect a restructuring with vernon Hargreaves to open up a few more million to get the deals done. If i were a betting man, I would say the Texans are actually quit hamstrung with cap dollars and will not be able to be very active at all in free agency.

Here's a question. After we fired Kubiak, he went to be OC at Baltimore and instantly improved their offense from Bottom 5 to Top 10.

If BOB did get fired, would any team in the NFL hire him as an OC?

    No.

My guess is he'd go back to college.

I wonder if you've actually watched these two playoff games if you're just citing those cherry picked stats.

If you believe an offense that scored 0 points in 3 quarters before Josh Allen became a laughingstock and an offense that scored 7 points in almost 3 quarters after the chiefs stopped being bumbling idiots, is a sign of Watson breakout, then I have news for you. That's not the type of performance that leads teams to super bowls

Not sure about OC but one of his Patriots buddies would hire him (Belichick in New England, Patricia in Detroit, Flores in Miami) or his family friend Doug Marrone.

Bears, Broncos, Browns, Dolphins, Eagles, Giants, Jaguars, Panthers, Redskins & Vikings will all have new OCs.

It is possible that someone would hire BOB as an OC later on down the line but there would not be a lot of teams clamoring for him. The only reason I say possibly is because there have been some terrible coaches that have worked their way back up to the position of OC/DC.

Part of the problem with BOB is that he has burned a lot of bridges inside the coaching community. I have heard a few guys call him very unflattering things and his ego is famous. Not many head coaches want to bring someone in with an ego that side.

I agree that he would likely go coach in college and I think he is better suited as a college coach or in an NFL front office.

In college his lack of good play calling would be less of an issue. He would have an easier time controlling a whole program in college (which is what he wants). His structure and discipline would have a bigger impact. He probably would be a solid recruiter as well. At a school where he is expected to win and occasionally compete for a title would do well with him if he stayed long term. Oddly, I think Penn State would be ideal for him.

Watson 32M, Tunsil 16M, Cunningham 7M, not sure why you would pay Cunningham so much. Keep in mind that some players like Fulton and Kelemente will be cut to add more space to the cap. So that 60 is more like 70 mil, and there are a lot of mid level players that can be added to the defense at 4-6 mil a year range, Robert Quinn who would be a perfect fit made 5 mil last year, there are players out there.

In 6 playoff games under BoB, the offense has had a 1:1 TO to TD ratio. 11 turnovers, 11 touchdowns.

Watson will be north of $36M easily. Cunningham is going to cost more than $7M as well, dude was the leading tackler in the AFC last season. Another good year and he'll get paid.

Bingo. Two good periods out of three playoff games won't get it done. I love Deshaun, but he has to be better. Good QB play can mask a lot of bad things.
