Dont believe what everyone says about players. Watch the games and make your own eveluations. Before the draft reggie bush was a combo of the greates and he turned out to be eric metcalf his 1st season. Look at what player do and go from there. Branch is kind of like ngata and he turned out to be good as a rookie. If you cant stop the run, how can you earn the right to rush the passer? Russell has a cannon and shows some leadership, but look at his overrall body of work. Even with every qb, its all about qb developement.
No in Jarrett's case buy into it or not, big time players make big time plays in big time games. IMO Jarrett nudges ahead of Johnson because of that and he got a W, where Georgia Tech does not. Jarrett has had numerous other solid to superstar performances so the Rose Bowl was just the icing on the cake. Because of that, Jarrett merits top 5 at least top 10 consideration.
i hear ya. dunta is one of the most disappointing things i saw on the texans this season. but dunta is definitely a legit starter. put other talent around him in the secondary and he will look a lot better.
getting tired of all the dunta excuses... "get another CB;" "improve the pass rush;" "it's the OL's fault..." just kidding. actually, i'm not - robinson and johnson have both been officially put on notice. they need to step up big time next year, take their games to another level. both have regressed significantly these past two years, imo. i do think a pass rush and a better secondary would benefit robinson (who still hits like a freight train), but his coverage skills have, imo, eroded.
That's why I have a hard time saying anything bad about the kid. That plus the fact that I've met him in person and he's a SUPER nice guy. But yeah, he's coming off 2 sub-par years after having a pretty good rookie year. It certainly isn't for lack of effort because he's one of the hardest hitters on the defense and is NEVER afraid to stick somebody like a lot of CB's are. He was a big hitter in college too, if I remember right. He seems to have the skills/mindset of a safety but the body of a cornerback.
Dunta isn't a great coverage guy, but he's the best that the Texans have (except maybe DeMeco). He'd be a good #2 corner. While he's never going to make a Pro Bowl, he's a keeper.
Cornerbacks that have a High number of interceptions usually benefit from outstanding pressure by the front seven.Texans are one of the worst at putting pressure =/

Looking at Jamarcus Russell's first quarter performace I'm beginning to believe he'll be gone by the time the Texans pick.
I would defintely agree with that. So, bias aside....who do you guys think is the better PROSPECT...Jemarcus or VY (pre-2006 Rose Bowl)?
Interesting to say the least...no way Jarrett, Russell or Lynch last as long as Draftking has them. No way.
The Texans will have a solid player to pick there at the eight spot. They primarily need that offensive tackle!!!! But, if he is gone, they could use either another DT or DE. The Texans Defensive line is going to be a wrecking crew. That Defensive line could end up being one of the best if not the best in the NFL!!! Plus this draft is supposed to be Defensive Back heavy. So, you figure that if the Texans don't go for either Hall or Landry in the 1st round, then they could get one with one of their other first day picks.
I've said it before but I've love for the Texans to get Laron Landry. We need a hard-hitting, nasty free safety in the secondary. Please no more C.C. Brown.
If this guy is still on the board in the 2nd, I say we pull the trigger.. pending he declares for the draft, that is. If he's there in the third (no way in hell), we simply couldn't pass him up..
He's looking more and more like the best player in the entire draft. He's at least the best skill player. With the Raiders needing a QB, I'll bet he's picked #1 overall.
