6 year extension without playing a full game post injury. Should we be concerned?

Good move to get this done earlier rather than later. It's not like Cush needed to prove himself over the season since we all know what he can do on the field.

Depends on the guaranteed money. Amount of years is kind of irrelevant.

Does bonus money count against the cap?

I think he'll be fine, but we certainly don't know what he can do on the field after a knee injury.

    Quick Google search says-

Glad I'll get to keep my Cushing jersey for another 7 years unlike my Scola one that lasted all of 6 months.

I have no doubts about Cushing. Glad to see him locked up.

ACLs are just a flesh wound now-a-days, don't know why everyone is worried, lateral quickness remains intact.

Smart that the Texans didnt wait till Cushing's value dramitically increased after the end of this season. Cushing is extremely valuable, and I really do hope that he has a great season.

Once again, #80 doing a solid for his team by reworking his contract in order to allow for this deal to happen.

    Go Texans!!!

    Road to the Meadowlands!!!

I can't wait to see #80 hanging for the raptors one day, a long time from now :) but one day.

Re-works his contract again showing he is the face of the franchise.

Good sign by Texans will pay dividends for years to come.

Ordinarily I would consider such a move hasty and jumping the gun. However, with Cushing, I think this will prove to be very smart play. Rick dose not usually roll over so easy....

That's a weird slip considering Hakeem's career path...

Hope they structured it so that J.J. can still get his when he's up for a new deal. Probably wanted to see Cush perform on the practice field before inking this deal. Wonder if the Ninja is next?!

I love AJ but he's not giving up any money. In fact he's guaranteed to make more money this way. That bonus money is in the bank already.

I see no way Antonio Smith is on this roster next season. We need capspace for Watt, and we were almost at the cap this season
