Yea... and now they're going deep on 3rd and short.... this is idiotic by the Colts, even if Peyton is gunning for a record (which he still has 6 more weeks to get). Will there be payback in Houston? This is as close as it gets in football...
There is only one word to fully describe this game, Oileresque. I kept having flashbacks. If you were ever an Oiler fan, especially an old Oiler fan, games like this were common. Only the vintage Oilers could squeeze out a "football fart" this stinky. Whew, that was rank!
Frankly, I never saw the Oilers get humiliated on all sides of the ball like the Texans were today. During the Moon era, there were several blowouts in our favor, and if we lost... it was often a shootout. Actually, n/m... I do remember a couple of serious drubbings to Cincinatti the year they went to the Super Bowl (including a 48-14 loss in the playoffs... ouch).
Man we made the Colts defense look like the Ravens, that was a pethetic game. I just hope we dont play like that next week when we get our 2nd national televised game.
You missed the good ole days. Ever heard of Coach Peterson? What about the drubbing by Oakland on Monday Night Football, the occasion for the classic Don Meredith remark? That was some funny stuff. Even the pre-Love Ya Blue era had some real stinkers. Dan Pasterini spent his first season on his back (in more ways than one). Memories.
The worst one I can remember was 61-7, Bengals vs Oilers, Sam Wyche vs Jerry Glanville. Bengals even attempted and recovered an onsides kick during the blowout. Only an Ernest Givens TD reception kept it from being a shutout. Ugly.
I get this sinking feeling in my gut that the past two weeks have set the Texans franchise back by an entire year...either that or those greased up chicken strips from Chilis. I'm not ready to place all of the blame on the coaching staff, but I can almost call every single play before it happens. Their play calling is becoming quite stale. Side note...I know I'm probably in the extreme minority, but Peyton Manning's method of running the Colts offense is almost unbearable. It's like watching a baseball game on TV where you can flip channels between each pitch...the amount of time he wastes while standing at the line of scrimmage is incredible. Save me your "that's the way he keeps the defense off-guard" arguments...it's still unwatchable.
Play calling was horrible especially early. Carr sucked early as well. I wanted to see him step up in this game but I guess I was asking for too much. Maybe he was intimidate. I stopped watching in the 3rd quarter. Dominick nows looks like a glorified 3rd-string RB. Ugly and sad game generally.
I saw that game on TV, gee that was humiliating, and infuriating at the time. Wyche purposely ran up the score. Well, it seemed like nobody in the league liked Glanville in those days.
What a pathetic effort...I didn't see this coming at all...I was just so happy they came on TV here in Dallas, but it might as well have been another game...First time I've seen carr have a truly bad game...
Usually, with a Texans loss, you can find a lil bit of a silver lining: Well, at least Andre Johnson had a good game..... Well, at least David Carr had a good game... Well, at least the offensive line ran and pass blocked well.... But after this game, there was ZERO silver lining to be found. There wasn't one area or player on the team that came to play and did their job. I read the Chronicle this morning and they gave just about every area of the team an F.
At least they didn't have a 30 point lead going into the third quarter and have the second string QB come in and lead a comeback that would scar for generations.
