Fair enough. But I think Russell has shown shortish QBs can succeed

I'm a little surprised. John has shown he can smoke the best defenses in college football.

Again, I'm sure the Texans know they have to see what Keenum can do before next year's draft.

And if the Texans have to choose between a mobile QB with adequate arm strength or a pocket QB with a strong arm, which do you select? All other factors being equal.

    arm strength is overrated.

Joe Montana had a weak arm. So does Peyton Manning.

The problem is when you have a quarterback like schaub who has a weak arm, cant read defenses, cant audible, folds under pressure, has poor pocket presence, has poor awareness, cant read read wideout progressions fast enough, is slow, immobile, and lacks athleticism.

That's really sad to read. If true, he should be an usher at Reliant.

Mel Kiper was on First Take the other week and said Johnny Football wasn't going in the first round because of his mechanics and his off the field issues.

I've never been a Schaub fan... But niether Yates or Keenum would be any better.

If things don't change, I'd go after Brodgewater in the draft. If we can't get him (he'll most likely be gone) I'd either take a shot t Johnny Manziel or take Aaron Murrey. Johnny is probably more of a risky pick so I understand if we were to not take him. But Aaron Murrey reminds me so much of Drew Breese it's scary, so I'd be thrilled with that.

I hate to say it but the Texans have turned into the Cowboys...
Half-ass QB and an incompetent coach with an owner that won't admit that they're both a mistake.
    Sad.

Yes he was short but he had everything else going for him that would have made him a first round pick. He had experience finding throwing lanes behind big ol Wisconsin linemen in a pro style offense. And Wilson was a much better passer and had his head on straight coming into the league.

Arm strength is not a problem as long as you can throw accurate and timely passes. When Brees came out of the college, he was considered a weak arm short qb with little athletic ability, we all know how that assessment turned out.

I'm on the Mariota bandwagon. Great size. Amazing speed. Solid arm strength. Dual threat QB, but actually doesn't run (run attempts per game) nearly as much as some of the other dual threat college QBs (Manziel and company).

Not sure about his pocket presence, ability to read defense, ability under serious mental pressure. Given his team and system, they've just been too dominant to even tell.

But seems to have great mental makeup, solid person, etc.

He seems like a GREAT fit for this offense. Would dominate the bootleg.

Agreed. But I don't see him falling out of the top 5 picks. No way texans get a top 5 pick this year.
