A Saints fan back in '03 always said NO owns the Falcons, no matter how good ATL is... 17-7 since '03. Having Brees helps, but arrived 3 years later. Will the Saints represent or add fuel to the fire?
1993. 28-3 at the half. Houston fans don't have the right to be counting their chickens before they hatch.
Yeah but Houston can't choke by themselves. Yes they can lose against the Jags, but 8 other teams have to lose in addition to that. The most clutch team in the league (New England) has to choke, the Bungals have to choke, the Jets have to choke. The Chiefs have to choke.
A ton of loser mentality in here. Warren Moon and the run and shoot offense isn't walking through that door. Jim Eddy and his prevent defense aint walking through that door. Figure-head/clueless Jack Pardee aint walking through that door. Houston has had its fair share of good fortune since that debacle... namely two Rockets championships, 6 baseball playoff appearances (with 1 pennant), and a few miracle comebacks of their own.
So.... Chiefs lose + Broncos lose + Jets win = Texans host Jets Chiefs win + Broncos win = Texans host Chiefs Chiefs win + Broncos lose + Jets lose = Texans host Broncos
I think this is our best bet. And then hopefully get the Bengals in the second round we could squeeze out a victory. And finally get destroyed by the Patriots in the AFC Championship...hey I'm optimistic but not stupid, lol
Two asterisk championships (very glad they happened though), a pennant along with more losing, losing as a favorite, and getting swept after said pennant, and pretty much zero football (Texans) or basketball success. Plus... before Buffalo, some bad things happened along with no rings. The history isn't limited to post-Clutch City.
Most likely the Chiefs but damn we match up badly with them. Our strength is corner coverage and pass rush which are both negated by Andy Reid quick passing/screen game, running QB, and TE pass option. We match up much better against the Jets, Steelers, Broncos, and Bengals. I would rather play any of those teams instead of the Chiefs and Pats. Let's hope the Raiders can surprise the Chiefs this weekend because that would most give us the Jets if they beat Buffalo.
I agree the Jets would be the best matchup. Although I think we could hang with Denver. Osweiler can't avoid the rush for crap and that OL stinks.
Houston sports history post-Buffalo is certainly better than pre-Buffalo. You're merely contributing to the loser/beaten-wife mentality... there are cities that have had it worse than Houston (and at the same time, cities that have presumably had it "better" haven't really grown as a sports town as well as Houston has).
As if not being THE worst is the standard.. there aren't many 3 sport cities worse. Who cares about pre/post Buffalo? It's still subpar success. Sports-wise, Houston is "loser" overall. Call it loser mentality all you want, just don't front.
I remember the Cheifs game well. They converted so many first downs on bad tackling, which we have improved dramatically. That offense is nothing to write home about if you prevent the big play. The AFC is weak this year, and the only clear front runner would be the Patriots who just got there ass kicked by the Jets. Saying that, Hoyer against the Chiefs defense is a troubling thought.
