Fire smith, Kubiak, Marciano Hire Marciano back. Fire Marciano. Seriously, I hate Marciano so much, I hope they fire him, then rehire back, just to fire him again.
i agree. rick smith chris olsen gary kubiak the worst part of this administration is that we will be feeling their mishaps for years as they fubar'd the cap.
great post. yes, we need to get our cap situation back in order first and foremost. both of those guys can be replaced without a steep downgrade in play.
There will be a market for Foster, so you can trade him. I would even test the market for Dre, I think he could still get you a number 1. Turnarounds can happen quick in the NFL, so unlike the Astros a complete teardown isn't necessay. But a few major changers certainly need to happen, and making some financial moves is one of them
Cut: Foster Schaub Accounting for the 2014 dead money, that still saves you 12.25 million cap space for 2014. Schaub's contract will burn you for 7 million in 2015 but Owen Daniels contract is over in 2014 so we can keep him one more year. Cut Reed Sign Ben Tate.
Cut both Reeds Cut Daniel Manning Cut Newton Cut Schaub Cut the Ninja Cut Keshawn Martin Cut our idiotic kicker Cut wrists
Agreed, injuries have caught up with both foster and OD. Schaub and ed reed are obvious cuts. Manning can be cut too. Get rid of all the coaching staff. Need to draft an ILB (CJ mosley) and a safety (Loston-lsu) or CB (Colvin-ou). Need to address the right side of the OL. Newton deserves some blame, but they need to get him some help on blocking elite de's like Hali.
In what way? Case is better than Schaub, Healthy Tate is better than (often) Injured Foster. Johnathan Joseph has NO dead money if you cut him in 2014, and Manning is only 1.5 million, but I think they will keep him. Please explain how the cap is FUBAR. With specifics.
His contract isn't bad at all. It was frontloaded, and there will be competition for his services. Plus we don't have to trade him which puts the ball in our court.
**** no to getting rid of Foster. You don't get better by trading him. This is the NFL were 1-2 players can transform your team from bad to playoffs in an off-season. There are going to be plenty of guys to cut or not resign and none of those guys should be Arian Foster.
http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/houston-texans/arian-foster/ Looks pretty balanced to me, if not backloaded. Apparently I underestimated people's willingness to bust out the wrecking ball on the entire franchise. Tate is gone. Daniels is gone. Schaub should go. Reed should go. If Kubiak can't adapt his offense to the new NFL rules and his personnel, he should go. If Rick Smith can't adapt to finding new talent for a new system, he should go. If Wade can't get the defense playing better, he should go. Foster can thrive in any offense I think, his pass blocking and catching skills are great. He's expensive, but not so expensive you cut him. Keenum should get the rest of the year to audition for the future. In the draft, pick up an ILB, an RT, an RB, and a QB (depending on how Keenum does).
foster has a 9 million cap hit for the remainder of the contract. not to mention 9 million in combined salary and signing bonus. no one is trading for that contract.
i mean 9 million cap hit for each season + 9 million in combined salary and signing bonus for each season. it was a terrible contract.
spotrac lists J Jo as having no dead money because he has restructured his contract a few times, and no one knows the future ramifications of it. trust me, J Jo absolutely has dead money remaining on his deal. our cap is absolutely screwed.
He'll move inside asap and should be a serviceable starter. Mercilus on the other has to find a way to get more pressure on the qb.
