Terrence Ross scored 51 points! Ties Raptors franchise record.

Should Raptors look to trade DeRozan?

  1. Yes. Terrence Ross is younger, on a cheaper contract, and will only get better.

  2. No. DeRozan is having an all-star type year and the Raptors should keep him.

Amazing performance by the 2nd year player Terrence Ross. This dude is having a pretty good season so far.

    Does this make DeRozan expendable?

Before today he was averaging 9 and 6 I think. Pretty meh. But good for him, I don't think they'll make DeRozan expendable though. Brandon Jennings scored 50 something his rookie season, but has yet to make an AS appearence.

Okay then. I wasn't implying that they should or shouldn't, just curious to see what others thought.

Impressive, but one game is not enough to go by. After all, Charlie Villanueva once scored 48 points in a game for the Raptors too. I think they will need to see him put up good numbers more consistently before they dump DeRozan, who is having a pretty good season himself.

I agree with this completely. It is only one game, albeit still impressive. Again, I wasn't implying they should or shouldn't look to trade DeRozan, I was just curious to see what others thought of the possibility, as well as Ross' performance tonight.

Damn I feel bad for him he missed the last free throw with 5 seconds left he could of gotten the record. Yes I was watching the Clipper-Raptors game I couldn't watch our inept offense anymore.

Brandon Jennings was a rookie in 1909?

Damn, for him to still be playing in the NBA in 2014 is downright impressive.

No, he's not a shot creator, his handle needs work. He gives you 3s + defense + athletic plays. They are a nice fit right now, DeRozan is the wing scorer, Ross is the defender / glue guy, like Ariza. It's like if Trevor Ariza getting extremely hot and scoring 50+ points.

He's still fairly young though. His defense is inconsistent but it can be really good. He basically locked down Paul George twice this year, despite being much smaller.

At the very least, he's one of those good valuable 3D players that every team wants. But right now he can't create besides a long distance bad pull up.

I think you need a 3rd option in that poll, though: "Yes. DeRozan isn't great, and his trade value will never be higher."

If East was any good this year, no one would care about DeRozan. Now we have coaches saying he's an all star. If the Raptors can sell him like an all star, they should just do it. He's no better than Kevin Martin or Monta Ellis, players you can find every year in the free agency.

Always thought about him having all the tools to be an all-star for many years, think this could be a sign of things to come.
Reminds me how many great wings were seen as atletic stoppers/3pt specialists before they had their breakout seasons, e.g. recently Paul George.

Ross has good size for his position, world class athleticism and his 3fg% proves he has a good foundation on his jump shots, no reason he can't develop a nice midrange game and improve his handles.

For every Paul George, there are 20 Gerald Greens, Brandon Rushes and Arizas. If they make trades based on those hopes, they'd be acting very rash.

And there are questions with Ross if he works hard, if he wants to play hard consistently. It got to a point where Casey (their coach) sort of called him out this summer in the media and asked for more effort.

You never know, but I think odds are against it.

Forget the scoring outburst, Terrance Ross could lose a leg and DeRozan would still be expendable.

They should look to move Derozan but it has nothing to do with Ross.
