Shocked that there is not a thread on this but at any rate, some "scintillating" tennis going on in the men's final between Federer and Joker. Currently it is Djokovic leading 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 3-1.
I always think its Roger's last shot at winning another one but the dude is just plain durable. Clearly not what he was 5 or 6 years ago but it's amazing how competitive he remains. It's going to be tough for him to finish off Novak/Rafa in a final but it certainly seems like he intends to stay in the conversation a bit longer.
This kind of felt like Roger's last push at a major and I have to admit that I was rooting for him to pull it off. He is falling further behind his peers on the other surfaces. He has a tough enough time with Nadal in general, but on clay it's no contest. And on hard courts, it's tough to see him overcoming Novak alone, much less Novak in addition to guys like Murray and Wawrinka, who also play well on the surface. He is at his best on grass, and he was playing well enough to win the tournament over these last two weeks, but it's just tough to imagine him playing at this same level after another entire year goes by. Making things even tougher, we are finally starting to see a new crop of players that seem capable of breaking through and winning big. Dimitrov has had a great 2014 and we saw in this tournament that he's a future Wimbledon winner. Raonic has also made great strides and his serve will always make him tough on any surface, really. It was nice to have a great final in this tournament, considering that the rest of the tournament was pretty mundane. Don't get me wrong; I was thrilled to see semifinal appearances for aforementioned Raonic and Dimitrov, but this was a tournament that was really lacking any marquee matches or moments.
