Definately doesn't sound like a real pupusa. For anyone who's curious: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pupusa
This is one of the restaurants I really miss after moving from Houston to Chicago. Wish we had an equivalent.
Isn't a real pupusa pork-only and cheese with a side of red sauce and Cole slaw? Those are the only ones I've had and am not interested in trying taco cabanas fake version. I'll leave that for the Gringos'.
Yes. Shredded ChicharrĂ³n (pork) with a mixture of Munster and mozzarella cheese. You mix the two and use Masa (dough) and make a small bowl in your hand and place pork/cheese mix inside. You close masa over itself and flatten out like a tortilla. You place on comal (flat iron) and cook until golden brown. Salsa and curtido (cabbage salad) and enjoy.
there's a taco truck on 646 in league city next to a citgo gas station about 3miles past 45. It's run by salvadorian people and they make some good pupusas! They don't cook the masa until you order it so it takes a while to get your food. And they're priced right, 1.50 each. I miss working in that area. I would always get me some pupusas for lunch.
I don't know!!! I guess I vaguely remember hearing about it on a commercial, but I never saw it on the menu when I went (haven't been in awhile though). I got black beans, lettuce, guacamole, cheese and pico and put that awesome salsa ranch stuff on it...freaking heavenly. It was like a Chipotle bowl except the bowl was kinda like dessert! Amazing.
