It would not surprise me, if TMac has more money than Hakeem. Hakeem had to pay child support, his brothers business (Olajuwon Group) and his homes in Vancouver, Jordan (country) and here. What is keeping Hakeem afloat is his land deals, but with the recent land value declines, he may have suffer. I'm sure money has a lot to do with him doing side jobs with Kobe, Dwight and Amare/Tyson. When you see TMac, he doesn't have a clan, or a posse like Vince Young and most NBA athletes which is a money drain unless your Lebron, who is top 3 overall with Nike, likely the 1st with Nike NBA. What is keeping TMac's finances are his endorsements and 0 child support that we know of. I'm happy that the Rockets made the right decision at the time and sad that TMac, a Houstonian is leaving the game because the game has past him by.
Not saying T-Mac will go broke, and I know it's a lot less money but Antoine Walker's career salaries don't seem too bad to me either, and we all know what happened... <iframe src="http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/share.cgi?id=qn49q&output=iframe" width=356 height=435 scrolling=auto> Report Created on <a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/">Basketball-Reference.com</a> </iframe>
The guy isnt a financial guru but he's far from a goon with his money. Yeah, he's got designer clothes, a few nice cars and a mansion but that's it. No posse, no stupid basketball wives type wife (married long time gf), and he doesn't go over the top with party's and all that. He's a laid back humble guy. As a basketball player he was and always will be my favorite. Thanks T-Mac. tough to see you go out like this.
I remember T-Mac owns a water company or something. Yao and Battier are top investors, actually both of them didn't make as much as T-Mac.
Same here man. His life outside the court is pretty good actually. A commitment to Darfur, some businesses and no gambling/drug problem. It's all good for him.
As much as I would like to see T-Mac do well in China given his popularity there, connection to Yao, and the multitude of business opportunities he could have, If I was his agent I would probably explore Euroleague opportunities first if there was a good fit, and contact situation that was available. The CBA has been firm on players committing to long term contracts that are pretty binding. The Euroleague seems to have better flexibility in their contracts. There might be a situation in the future for Tracy to come back to the NBA in a role with the right team. Right now in the NBA its just about fit. There really isn't that right fit for him, and the aftermath of the new CBA has very few teams in one of two categories. Either you are a team like the Knicks/Lakers who really want veteran role players that fit in their system, or you are a team like the Rockets who are in full rebuild mode. There really isn't too many sleeper teams out there that could use him well in their system. That's the real issue here. If McGrady wants to ride into the sunset, make a few bucks, and have fun playing for the few more years than China would be an awesome fit. If he wants to continue his career, re-define his skills as a role player, and make an NBA comeback, I would pursue something in the Euroleague on a competitive club. No hard feelings from a diehard Rockets fan. He did all he could when he was healthy in Houston, but like any relationship you really only remember the way it ended. Good luck T-Mac with the next chapter in your career.

Lol Tmac won't go broke. You never see him out going to clubs, popping bottles and taking his shirt off. He's a pretty laid back guy, as I'm sure you can tell from his on court demeanor. From what I heard, all he does is stay home. You rarely hear about his off the court life unless it was that Darfur thing.
No he doesn't. No one deserves anything they didn't earn. That's a TOF mentality aka a losers mentality.
You obviously don't remember much about this guy. Nothing is wrong with partying though. However this perception that Tracy is like some sympathetic Tibetan Monk like person is wrong.
You know Tinman, I never liked Tmac that much... but with all your mindless hating, I'm going to root for the guy to succeed because you don't obviously want him to. Any moment he has a set back you're the guy that says, "I told you so!".
