Again, the nBA needs to do away with Divisions Look at Portlands division. Blazers play 4 games against Jazz, a depleted OKC, Nuggets and Wolves resulting in about 14-16 wins. ALl the teams in the Blazers division are likely lottery teams out west. That along with beating up some teams in the East and Blazers are a lock for a playoff spot. SW division OTOH is a dog fight every game with all 5 teams having a strong shot at making the playoffs.
the Rockets play 4 games against the Jazz too. Every team in the West plays the same schedule. NBA should get rid of divisions not because they're unfair, but becase they're meaningless. They have a minor effect on first round match-ups & tie breakers but that's it.
I've always thought that the point of divisions were to save some traveling time and mileage. Play more games with teams closer to you instead of going from like NY to LA the same number of times you would NY to Boston.
That's the point of conferences. Not divisions. Pretty sure every team plays every other team in their conference 4 times except a few that they play 3 (but think that's supposed to be random).
Best 5s (Howard, Gasol) Best 4 (Brow) and top 5 4s (Dirk, Timmy) Sexiest 3 (Parsons) Best 2 (Harden) Top 5 PG (Parker) This division might contain the MVP, too. Records, best players at their position, and the sexiest player in the world. I'd say the SW division certainly has a case.
Rockets may play 4 against the Jazz but they still do not play all 4 against other gimmick teams out west. The play certain teams only 3 times and are as such disadvantaged because of the strength of the SW division. Only thing guaranteed in the schedule is 4 games every season against same division teams and 2 games against opposite conference teams.
