I think he is confused, he though he is talking to someone who wanted Trump out of the office, when he is actually talking to part of the Trump base.
Last week .... I didn't think he had a snowballs chance in hell of being the nominee. I was laughing at the thought of him leading anything. My how things have changed.
I didn't insult his intelligence. I was expressing why *I* think it is always important *for me* to vote. I think EVERYONE should vote.
If Bernie Bros had gone out and voted instead of posting conspiracy theories on the internet... it probably wouldn't have mattered -- Biden is just too dominate.
Well the will of the voters has spoken and they don't think Bernie can beat Trump. Do i believe that? No, but I respect their opinion and hope to see Biden prove it on the debate stage 1v1 against Bernie. I'm not mad, Democrats had more turnout for this primary than in 2016. They're energized to get Trump out of office no matter what. They aren't chasing policy driven candidates though so it is what it is.
why do you respect their opinion? They’re mostly older people easily swayed by effectively branding. And principally branding Bernie as a socialist and unable to defeat Trump. a good majority of these folks chose Biden in the last 24-36 hours. Meaning they are making their choice almost zero about policy. Just whose left and whose not Bernie because of the above. and that’s ok... but worthy of respect?? To me it’s be like respecting a pharmaceutical commercial, or a toothpaste brand because 4 out of 5 doctors like it, lol. again I’m not saying their bad people or that Biden has no chance or wound be a bad president. Just that if they’re asked why the my votes for Biden and the response is that they think he has the best chance to beat Trump and Bernie is a socialist I’d find that opinion moronic, not respectable.
Maybe... Maybe Not... But Biden has done one key thing right now.... African Americans are out there voting and that is key for any Democratic nominee...... That's also bad news for the republicans... T_Man
People are entitled to be scared. It's like calling out people for buying water or hand sanitizer. Look at the polling questions. They are SCARED of 4 more years of Trump and I don't blame them. I don't agree with them but I won't call them sheep. You are also calling them stupid and that's not cool. If Benrie is gonna win this nomination he'll have to earn it. Im hopeful he will but his campaigning in Texas SUCKED. He's turning out less than in 2016. His voter turnout between ages 18-30 sucked!
I'm calling them uninformed and swayed by branding. If you think that makes them stupid... that's your word, not mine. This isn't just a Bernie vs. Biden thing. It's a general reaction to the whole process and how we got here...
It's this condescending attitude - thinking anyone who doesn't vote for your guy is somehow lesser/uniformed/etc - that fails campaigns over and over. It's an attitude that does nothing to build coalitions or drive people to Bernie's camp. It was Bernie's job to convince people to vote for him - he failed. He couldn't respond to the "socialist" label against friendly Democrats. How was he going to fare against Trump? Maybe those voters are not, in fact, easily swayed by branding. Maybe they made an educated decision that the moderate camp has a much better chance of beating Trump than Sanders, and they were simply waiting to see how the moderate lane would shake out and who would emerge. Maybe it's the Bernie voters that are uninformed and don't understand what is required to win campaigns.
We got here because there is a huge disconnect between boomers and millennials. We refuse to take either side seriously and Russia is doing a great job putting us against each other even more.
Why? If their #1 goal is to beat Trump, why is it moronic to pick the person they think has the best chance of beating Trump? You seem to think its moronic that people have different priorities than you.
Or, it is a rejection of the policies Bernie espouses. An opinion piece in the Boston Globe addresses this idea that Southern blacks supporting Biden are low-information voters. Instead, she argues, they are voting pragmatically because -- even if a progressive's policies are more favorable for them -- they don't believe whites are really going to be willing to go the distance. Makes sense to me. Minorities have a lot more to lose from a Trump reelection victory than I do. While I can swing for the fences with a Sanders vote (or, really in my case, "throw my vote away" on Elizabeth Warren), they don't have the risk tolerance for that.
Maybe moderates didn't elect Biden because they think he has the best chance to beat Trump. Maybe they just didn't want Bernie as their president
That wouldn't be a rejection of Bernie's polices. That would be a fear of electability in the general for Bernie. You are right, they have more to lose than white voters with another 4 years of Trump and that is a strong rational motivator to prioritize electability in the general over policy desires
I know you understand the black and white of my text but you really don't. I don't want 4 more years of Trump but I also don't want 4/8 years of Biden. I cannot in good conscience cast a vote for something I do not want regardless if I do not want it less. Like Morey just said, there should be no acceptable ways of losing, you still lost. That said, I'm hoping Bernie would do what Perot did and what I wanted Paul to do. Go 3rd party and take your votes with you. You won't win the whitehouse but you win a new party and put the other two parties on notice that you dominate the next generations of voters and if you could solve the pandora's box that is the lack of youth vote you would win in a landslide.
