Judges, generally, had interpreted this standard to be extremely high and discharges of student loan debt in chapter 7 bankruptcy were extremely rare. This case doesn't create precedent, not yet at least, but it will be interesting to see if there is a thawing in the judiciary regarding student loans and bankruptcy.
I love the idea and it just makes common sense. Forget forgiving student loans but at least let them be discharged in bankruptcy.
