I would really like some clarification on the whole Stevie situation. I loved him as a player for us. I'd hate to see him go out like this... He just has too much talent for me to believe he can't provide us with anything at the age of 30, so I want to see a return from this injury ASAP.
What a waste of money he was He did hit that PHX shot, though It sucks that he is a shell of his former self. Had some good memories,
LOL, probably one of my favorite moments of the season. Steve got the whole arena chanting "WE WANT STEVE!" I never heard the TC so loud. Dude is like a rock star here.
Feb. 6, 2008, 7:32PM Francis expected to miss remainder of season By JONATHAN FEIGEN Copyright 2008 Houston Chronicle Rockets guard Steve Francis is scheduled for surgery that is expected to end his season, a person who spoke on the condition of anonymity said on Wednesday. The Rockets would not comment and Francis could not be reached. An announcement is expected for Thursday. Francis has been out with what had been diagnosed as bi-lateral quadriceps tendonitis, but with the condition slow to rehabilitiate, an examination by a specialist in Colorado last week indicated that there is a tear that would have to be repaired surgically. Francis, who signed with the Rockets in the off-season after reaching a buyout agreement with the Portland Trail Blazers, has played in just 10 games, starting three. He has been averaging 5.5 points, making 33.3 percent of his shots. jonathan.feigen@chron.com http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/5520146.html This may need it's own thread.
Rockets Guard Francis To Have Season-Ending Surgery Houston Rockets guard Steve Francis will have surgery to repair a torn quadriceps tendon near his left knee that will end his season. The injury, while only recently discovered by team doctors, has been bothering Francis for several years limiting his performance and his playing time. The Rockets have not confirmed Francis' status. "It's been a challenging few years for Steve from an injury perspective, and if there is any aspect of a positive light to be placed on the situation it is that Steve now knows the severity of the injury," said Jeff Fried, Francis' agent in an interview with FOX 26 Sports, "and (he) can take definitive steps to repair the problem and look forward to continuing his basketball career at the elite level that he is accustomed." Francis has played in only ten games for the Rockets this year averaging 5.5 points and 3.0 assists a game. Last summer Francis signed a one year contract with a player option for a second year with the Rockets. This is his second stint with the franchise. He played five years with Houston after being acquired in a trade with the then Vancouver Grizzlies in 1999. The Rockets then traded Francis to Orlando in the deal that brought Tracy McGrady to Houston. Francis split the next four years between the Magic and the New York Knicks. Francis is one of four players in NBA history (Oscar Robertson, Magic Johnson, and Grant Hill) to average 15 points, five rebounds, and five assists a game during his first six seasons. http://www.myfoxhouston.com/myfox/p...n=3&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=TSTY&pageId=6.1.1
If you're the Rockets GM you'd want to see how this works out. Surgery and then rehab and then recovery to see if he can regain his form. No trade here!
http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm#14 http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm#53 The Rockets need to cut 1.5M to get under luxury tax, If Francis qualifies that's around 2.4M not counted towards team salary, adding Mike Harris would cost around 400k. However they'll need to cut soemone to make room on the roster. That's where a trade for Cassell or Maggette will be handy
