Is it his free time when there is a game being played and he is getting paid?

I suppose he could either be watching the game at home, at the movies, casiono or whatever or growing splinters in his butt.

So if this is true then he is being stupid on two levels.

    1. he should be busting his butt trying to get better if he is really serious about wanting to play

    2. he is an idiot for gambling his money away in the casino. but i guess with a $30mil buyout he can afford to throw money away...

Until the Rockets reactivate him, then he's worthless at the games except as a cheerleader. Did you see Sura at all the games while he was injured?

I guess he can't have his own time where he can do his own things  ? For all we know, he just came from rehab and is trying to relax.

Good for him. Glad to hear he's having some fun!

Wouldn't matter. He's been in Addle-brained's doghouse since day one. Rockets need a regime change.

Pulled this tidbit off the NBA.com site after the Timberwolves game.

Notes: Steve Francis has been not played for Houston since the middle of December, and quadriceps tendinitis will continue to keep him out indefinitely. "He's not close to being able to play,'' coach Rick Adelman said. ... Mike James, who was a big disappointment in his one season with Minnesota, has appeared in only four games for the Rockets since Christmas

The the juiciest part of that is Francis kissing girls, since he's MARRIED with 2 kids.

I hate it when an athlete goes out like this. Sura, Francis, Barkley, Livingston. You want to see them go out like Gary Payton. Fighting all the way and contributing to the last. Hope Francis can get well and play but that might be wishful thinking.

dont know about him but I do. and they dont even pay me. if they did id watch it with more reason.

but i can understand the frustration of not being able to play.

kind of like i could see why an nba player who didnt make the playoffs would try to get as far as possible from the playoff games.

steve will always be steve take it or leave it

Well I'm just telling you this happened, you can choose to believe it or not.

I never really said it was necessarily a bad thing he was gambling, heck I do it, too much in fact.

I think the most amazing thing to me is how in pro sports if you're hurt, you don't have to be there at all games, practices, team functions etc. I mean, Francis is getting paid I believe 2 million this year and he doesn't even have to come to the games? I can't think of another profession that is like this.

It sounds like the team has moved on without him.

Steve should be a support next season, he needs to take the time off, and rehab.

When fans see a player doing something that is not basketball related, (usually it'll be something us regular folks do) they automatically think it's bad and that they are up to no good. It's like athletes aren't allowed to have any free time where they can have a little fun.

Calvin Murphy on this Radio Show said that Francis would announce on Thursday that he would be undergoing surgery again and be out significant time. Well there you have it folks. Francis is out for the season and probably part of next season too. This is his last ditch effort at recovering to play basketball. The same surgery as D-Wade. We will know for sure on Thursday if this is true.

Here's hoping that Franchise makes a full recovery. Good Luck Steve!
