Salary dump. Knicks gave him a big contract(big for him anyways--4 yrs, $15 mil) then traded him with two other corpses, two second round picks and a first round pick for Andrea Bargnani. ____________________ http://sports.yahoo.com/news/sources--raptors-agree-to-trade-steve-novak-to-jazz-181622872.html
I don't think some of you may understand how big of a move this is for the Raptors. This means next off season the only players on the Raptors will be Lowry(12), Derozan(9), 2pat(6), Vasquez(?) and Ross & Jonas on their rookie contracts. I'm sure they will have plenty of money to be BIG players in the 2015 free agency. Their target is likely Kevin Love.
I just somehow suspect that Love will choose to take his talents elsewhere. The Raps have the Canada problem despite playing in a great city
Yeah they should have a lot of money to target the big free agents but the problem for the Raptors is that not many big stars will be willing to re-locate to Toronto.
They gave up a 2nd round pick and a non-guaranteed contract in Diante Garrett. J.R. Posted the link to the article: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/sources--raptors-agree-to-trade-steve-novak-to-jazz-181622872.html
It is definitely an amazing city. I think the hassle of moving their family to another country might be just too much for most players.

Good trade for the Raptors. Hope they don't immediately turn around and waste this cap space on another mediocre player.
