Either this is expert sarcasm, or the 'must tank' brigade is taking over. There is no way the maniacal dictator Stern is better than our own organization, and I don't think his actions can be used vindictively.

you can't blame stern for getting the better deal.
our beef with him is that he led us on to believe that there would be a deal then at the very possible last minute said that there was no deal, later to reveal that there was never a chance the deal was ever going to happen.

we can actually probably take advantage of the pity points from stern
and make a smaller trade involving okafor for a cheaper price than market value if we want.

How is Stern allowed to act in the interest of the Hornets. That's like hiring an avid Laker fan to referee all Laker games.

A third party member, Demps, was assigned that duty to ensure no conflict of interest. The fact that he proposed a good deal and Stern veto'ed it for "Basketball reasons" could easily be interpreted as saying "I don't want Rockets to get better from this deal so I'm vetoing the deal".

This has to go to court or something. No way this gets swept under the rug, like the whole Donaghy situation.

Well, technically he could've gotten an even better deal. Why not ask for Blake Griffin? That would have been for the best interest of the Hornets as well. Obviously he was being reasonable with his demands unlike his demands with the rockets.

Cuban was on the radio here in Dallas last week explaining why he supported the veto.

No, it is not fair. Also, I could not find anything that this was ever publicly communicated when the NBA bought the Hornets. On the contrary, the few things I could find said that the people put in place in New Orleans as management should act as quasi-owners.

In all honesty, the Rockets and Lakers should be compensated by getting a pick somehow, because this cost us C. Hayes (at the least) and the Lakers Odom (at the least).

Losing Chuck hayes is all the compensation we need. That was a good thing for us I like Chuck but we would be much better served giving his minutes to Thabeet, J hill and P Pat

If its illegal its illegal. There is no position that makes it right if it was made under any illegal conditions or rules.

Not that it was bad for us. It wanst. It helped us out. But if he did it under violation of rules? He is not above rules and laws.

    1. He used the right authority of a NBA commissioner to veto the trade in behalf of Hornets Owner.
    2. The new collective bargaining agreement has just been made for 2 weeks and now, and now he votes the trade for basketball reason. I wonder it is going to be fair to the players.
    3. The vote is good for the OWNER of honest, but completely unfair to Lakers and Rockets. It is completely biased.

It wasn't a fact as the Clippers trade has shown. The Rockets-Lakers deal was awful for the Hornets.

In whose interest was the league acting when they requested the addition of picks or other assets before approving past trades?

If he used the authority as a NBA franchise owner to veto the trade; there wouldn't be a problem, and no damage would have been made to other team too. But, the fact was that he used the authority as a NBA commissioner, which doesn't have anything to deal with Hornets management, to veto the trade, and led to the damage to the other teams. That is just not acceptable.

    1) In the interest of the Hornets (or at least that was their own perception)
    2) Even though they deny it: In the interest of other NBA owners not involved in the trade who didn't want the Lakers to get Paul.
    3) Completely against the interest of the Rockets and Lakers who negotiated a perfectly legal trade with the guy whom the NBA had appointed as Hornets GM.

    Clear conflict of interest.

well the question should be if its in any violation? If it isnt we have to deal with it. If Morey thinks it was in violations? Yeah they shoul pursue some legal action. Of course then.

The main problem with this trade, and continues to be, is that the league owns the hornets. Phil Jackson knew this would create a conflict of interest and its incredible the league did not foresee this. Its seems clear that we have irresponsible people are running this league and someone should take the fall. That person is undoubtedly David Stern!

This basically sums up my thoughts. I can't believe there are people out there defending Stern and still call themselves Rocket fans.
