Not good for the Rockets. Let's hope he likes broadcasting more.

    So that's their plan ....

The Grizzlies are a pretty good fit for JVG.

With him as president, I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to recruit Mark Jackson... to play for him. Also, lucky for them Chris Childs and Ryan Bowen are retired.

And yet he'd still probably get them all to play better defense, and defend a last second 3 pointer, better than our current group.

Not sure if he would make a very good president, but if that's what it takes to get JVG, then it's probably the right move.

Believe it or not, I think JVG would bring in some offensive players. Broadcasting this long has to give him some perspective. There's no way the current grizzlies will go very far in the playoffs.

I would watch alot more Grizz games next year, thats for sure. While I would be happy (for him and that he is coaching again), as a Rockets fan I will also be heartbroken. My favorite coach of all time with Rudy a close 2nd.

As I said about Stan, don't know if the coach/president thing is a great idea even with a brilliant basketball mind. Having one guy both having to be so close to the action and emotions of every game and be in charge of long-term team building is tough. A guy like JVG would be especially tempted to just trade all future assets for immediate team improvement.

Greg Popovich might have the temperament for this kind of stuff. He would sit starters and cost his team regular season wins to prepare for the playoffs. Guys like JVG, SVG and Thibodeau, who often are such emotional wrecks after every loss, I just worry about.

Good point. Can't blame them for trying out the model though.

If you guys think Mchale can't run offensive plays- JVG is just as clueless on offense.

Rockets need a coach that can both draw up plays when we need them AND have a strong defensive strategy for the team to buy into.

Seems like a weird fit to have a control freak owner and a control freak coach

I'm sure JVG would be the first to admit he needs offensive players to thrive. He's always had them when his teams were good. His offensive strategy never evolved while the league's as a whole did. He needs scorers to carry the load because he's not drawing up any groundbreaking players or schemes.

He'd be better off if Gay was still there.

No one is better off with Rudy gay on their team.
