I'm not saying that this is what Morey is talking about, but I wonder if the reason for the delay in Melo getting traded is Atlanta reaching out to Houston to see if we would be interested in a deal. Obviously it would be Anderson for Melo, but maybe Atlanta wouldn't ask for much. I could see Morey being interested in that.
When Melo comes out ballin really well what will be the media's next move? Saying, "Harden has too much help?"
Why? For one the Rockets would need to add salary to make a deal work. For two, CP3, Harden, Tucker, Gordon will combine to make $9.8 million once the next calendar year starts. Figure in adding Capela (or sucking without him?? lol, needing to replace him) and you have no cap space even ignoring all the other contracts/cap holds, etc. So its not like it saves cap space. For three, next offseason Ryan will be a LARGE expiring contract. Which could be useful in terms of actually getting back a player that can help even if it just adds to their perpetually over the cap state. For four, both players might end up sucking, but having the options of Melo + Ryno is better than having just Melo.
"We lost a couple key pieces and we still have a couple more key pieces to get," Harden said. "As long as we get our key guys back, re-sign Clint, and the guys we have continue to get better I have all the faith [in the team]."
melton i believe in, but maybe not this year. ennis maybe a good 8th or 9th man since he fits a need. MCW is a loooong shot. to beat the warriors i still think we need a starting F. i know the roster isn't finished until mid february but i believe that's where we are today. after melo and melton officially sign i do think we will start hearing some ryno trade rumors again. we'll see if he can be flipped for what we need before the training camp or before the trade deadline if at all.
Sorry, I was trying to say that he will start. Failed at being funny with it...lol I think he starts at the SF position, (defense assignments between him and PJ will adjust accordingly) But then he will literally come off the bench to close the first quarter with CP
Man, I love everything Harden is saying. I know it's just words and it means very little before it goes into action, but hearing it from him pretty much defeats any doubt I had about the move. If all of those guys communicate every day and he thinks they can get the best out of Melo then I really have no reason to believe otherwise.
