    Hey people,

just want to see if people on here can give some insight on the start of Mutombo's finger wag. Personally, I've seen quite some Nuggets games and haven't seen him do it once. It also never discussed by commentators.

Only the whole Mount Mutombo nickname and that the paint is his house and nobody should dare to enter it. I even remember a commercial with Jalen Rose and Mutombo from the 95-96 season and Deke talks about it his house and blocking shot, the wagging of the finger is not there.

I do however see plenty of Hawks highlights, photos and such where he does do it - at least out in the open and looks like there is where it started as his trademark.

Am I completely wrong here? Just want to know when he really started using it :)

Wikipedia also says it started on the Hawks, but doesn't say why. If you find out, update wikipedia.

I have read that history and could be true but I have seen games in his rookie season and following and nobody did the finger wag to Mutombo, MJ did it when Deke was with the Hawks and not earlier. So my guess is even if he did do it, it didn't become big until he was with the Hawks, not with the Nuggets.
Wikipedia and this history is written by regular people, although the guy who wrote it seems to know sports..
