That would've been interesting. I would love to know what we offered, but I doubt it even got that far. It's highly unlikely the Spurs would entertain a trade like that to a rival, but they were about to go into straight up tank mode. Based on what they got, we could've given them garbage for him if they were willing to listen.
http://www.clutchfans.net/news/583/rodman_signs_with_lakers/ Rodman signs with Lakers SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 1999 4:33 PM CST By Clutch Copyright 1999 ClutchFans.net You feared this would happen -- it was the one good thing that could have come about the Rockets signing the Worm... that being that it meant him not going to LA. But the inevitable is reality as Dennis Rodman will join the Lakers, and is expected to be in uniform Tuesday against the Hornets. According to Jackie MacMullan of CNNSI, "The Rockets' front office discussed, then ultimately dismissed, the idea of adding the Worm to Houston's already crowded bench of big egos, news that left some veterans, among them Eddie Johnson, bitterly disappointed. Meanwhile, center Hakeem Olajuwon could barely suppress his joy."
Dream despised Rodman and called him dirty on many occaisions. Probably got groped by him too much in the low post.
Those have their bag of tricks and Dream was a gentle man, few among NBA players. Dream without the skillset would be manhandled even more in the league.
And then there's this bit of garbage... TLDR: Some Spurs fans claim they're bailing on the team because of Pop's anti-trump comments. Article doesn't take into account the fact that the Spurs aren't that good anymore.
Agree, BUT sports reporters do tend to ask pretty ridiculous questions. You can have fun with that, like Parcell's did, or get annoyed with it and let the reporters know they're asking ridiculous questions. Ideally, one uses it to further their own goals..most coaches adapt this approach, but Pop doesn't really need that, so he takes the tack he does. I think there are a lot of sports reporters that ask questions as if they were qualified to be a general manager of a franchise, and let's face it, if they could do that job, they wouldn't be sports reporters.
They always blame the reporters so I'm not surprised at all you did the same. For this latest example when asked if he stilled enjoyed "it" after a loss or when things are going bad, he went off on this hypocritical rant that's full of pandering bullshit. Talking about he gets to coach, it's fun, not work, get free tickets courtside, other folks have real jobs, hard jobs, etc... oh please... Dude is the highest paid NBA coach in history and one of the highest paid coaches in all of sports. If it's so easy why he the highest paid all time and basically stealing that money?! I can't stand self righteous, preachy, panderers. Just be real yo.
So, he answered the reporters question? Oh, yes, by all means, let's attack him with pitchforks! And who said I blamed the reporters? Did YOU blame the reporters? Because my post started off with 'I agree'. Sigh. Everyone has to create all these strawmen. And FWIW, reporters DO ask a lot of stupid questions. Do you disagree with that?
