Pop is probably the only coach that can use this fat, lazy, euro-passer.

i dunno his contract, but splitter is a solid backup center who can fill in to start. that's not gonna be cheap. diaw, is unlikely to repeat this season in any of the next 3 years. 4-5m per year would be perfect.

He was on the worst team league and got cut. So basically without the spurs he wouldn't be in the league.(overstatement=of course) How the hell did he get this much?

Fair deal in that Diaw fill a very unique role on the Spurs both offensively and defensively. His ability to provide switch coverage with Kawhi as well as provide front court play making and range to pull out 4's like Ibaka to the perimeter was critical to their success against Miami and OKC in the play offs.

The Spurs will definitely be a handful next season... we just gotta hope they don't also snag Pau Gasol or they'll be an even bigger favorite to get out of the West than they already are for this coming season.

3 years, $22M... so a little over $7m/year. Very reasonable, and actually a bit cheap when you consider he's playing the 5th most minutes per game of any Spur.

He also played the 4th most minutes of any Spur during the play offs.

They are paying him for what he just did for them in the Finals. Well done.

Is there a weight clause in his contract?

Spurs will continue to break other Western conference teams' hope for the next two years. They are just that good!

Boris Diaw is a great player and is far from just some product of the Spurs system as you people argue. He is the one who makes the system work in the first place.

Boris was great playing for D'Antoni and Larry Brown before San Antoine. He got cut only because he got disgruntled on a tanking team.

Diaw was a pivotal player on the team last season, 4th in minutes played during the season and the playoffs.

The Spurs know there is always one stupid squad out there willing to overpay a player. Their window is shutting, may as well make sure you keep it together for one or 2 more runs.

Smart move for a smart organization, don't rock the boat.

Diaw can influence the game without scoring. I mean he puts up such entertaining stat lines like 2 points 9 rebounds 8 assists. I think even 3 years from now he can still be effective since his game isn't predicated on athleticism. As long as he's motivated and engaged he'll produce.

Nothing motivates better than winning and Popovich. Not to mention he gets to play with his BFF Tony Parker.
