Yah, whenever you need a team to stay mediocre....give Dunleavy a call. Hey maybe he could swing a cheap trade for his kid?
Great situation, great opportunity, still has friends in Houston, close to Rudy (in response to question bout it being weird to coach here with Rudy still around), great city with history of winning. Talked about how he was still close to Rudy and CD, just basically sounded like he wanted it. Wragge said he was expected to meet with Les in the next few days.
I wasn't really listening.. did Chris say something about Clevland and Monday? Dunleavy seeems like a decent guy, he'd be a nice safe hire if Gundy and Brown turn the job down.
I think he said there'd been rumors Van Gundy might sign with Cleveland tomorrow, but it hardly sounded like a done deal.
ESPN Radio had been reporting that...I still think the Rockets job is the better of the two but I'm biased.
The rockets are the best job available, hands down. But JVG isn't the guy that Les wants. Gundy's style is to slow the ball down and play tough defense. That's his trademark. Les has stated in the past that he wanted Rudy to step up the pace on offence so that knocks JVG out of it...
That's why I also don't think Van Gundy would be at the top of the list. He's not that big of a name and, despite his defensive coaching skills, his offensive skills leave a lot to be desired. Dunleavy actually would make the most sense if it weren't for the fact that Brown may be available and is so well-respected. Dunleavy has the right pedigree, skill set and team history. If Brown is unavailable or unwilling, he would be my next choice.
JVG has done a lot to repair his tarnished image with all the commentating he's been doing. Just shows that face time on the boob toob will do a lot for a guy that quit on his team rather than go down with the ship. He's not a better coach now than he was then...
Dunleavy would not be bad. I would much rather have him over JVG. I do not want to see the Rocks walk the ball anymore. Brown or Dunleavy would get them running.
