Great comparison. Although the Man Show had an occasionally funny bit, unlike 1560 which is only funny to the hosts.
1560 is reminding me more of live 105.3 in dallas rather than 1310 the ticket. http://www.live1053.com/ vs http://www.theticket.com/
anyone listen to 790 at around 1, they had a segment called lightning round where they let listeners talk smack about how sorry the rockets are. Kinda pissed me off as the host were laughing and encouraging listeners to call in with thier smack....
they have the lightning round everyday. it's lame, but i'll give 790 props for having the only local show at lunch time that talks sports. atleast they were talking rockets and yao's injury. (HINT HINT 1560!)
Today was a tough day at 97.5 - I had to break the news that Yao Ming would be out for the season during my sports updates.
I'd rather sit in a beauty salon surrounded by worthless girl chatter, hair magazines, nail job fumes, and soap operas than listen to that drivel at lunchtime on 1560. Blyech.
Starting to produce some shows on 97-5 The Ticket Saturday mornings 6-8am "Smokin' Joes Driving Range" with Joe Pogge Saturday and Sunday mornings 8-10 am "The Front Page" with Fred Faour and Matt Dean that is all -KO40A
well in simple terms, just makes sure everything sounds good over the air I have to make sure we play the opening audio for the shows / any sound effects (I usually play a sound bed going into a commercial break) Set up commercial breaks Count down the hosts at the hard break at the top of the hour Call any special guests on the phone and get them on the air Overall, just help out the host and "run" the show It's a lot of fun, but at the same time a lot of work / multi-tasking to make sure that the show runs smoothly and sounds good over the airwaves.
Props to your job King. I'm not sure about your sig though. Personally, I think the Calvin Murphy show is one of the worst shows out there. It's mostly Calvin yelling and not letting anyone else get there opinions in.
Calvin has the most unlistenable show on sports radio. I'd listen to that awful Golf Hour on AM610 before giving Calvin's show 5 minutes of my time. They should get rid of him after the NBA season ends. KO40A, I'm happy for you. Keep moving on up and hopefully you can make a difference in the programming there.
That's the thing about Calvin's show - either you hate him or you love him, surprisingly he has a strong listener/caller base, overall good guy behind the scenes as well.
I don't generally listen to local sports shows, but after the Lakers game I turned to 790 during a commecial on 610 and caught a few minutes of a call in show where the hosts name was Lesbo something? It was pretty bad. They got Mike Harris name wrong and where just rambling. I quickly turned it back to 610. Whats the story with this Lesbo show? How do these guys have a show in a major city like Houston. It was pretty terrible.
