Anyone got a subscription to SI? Being in Australia I would love to get my hands on this magazine each week and it seems it is much cheaper for me to sign up for a subscription in the US ($39) for the year rather than pay ($5) for each issue on iTunes. If I get the subscription from what I understand it gives me access to each issue on my iPad. If I was to pay to look at this option I would be willing to have the magazine delivered to someone in the US so it all seems legit. Would rather it go to a fellow Houston fan as well. So is the magazine worth the read each week?
I like to read the SI magazine only for basketball and football. Its a pretty good magazine and has some really good pictures which makes it worth while.
I'll never view SI the same again after THIS travesty: (hint for the younger posters - notice the top headline) Spoiler I'll never forget my Dad calling SI the day he got this issue and cancelling his subscription. I haven't paid for an issue since. I am definitely my father's son. If you're a true Rockets fan, DON'T BUY SPORTS ILLUSTRATED.
I just get my fix from ESPN and Soccernet. Or ESPNStar for other sports. No subscriptions needed. Also pictures don't do much for me nowadays, with youtube and all.
ha...totally forgot about this. don't forget they distributed special rockets covers to the area! they should have gone the extra mile and had that title say "Knicks Unfortunately Lose Finals in 7". screw the national media.
That cover was only for a regional souvenir issue IIRC. And it was only issued after outcry from Rocket fans. I'm usually not in the "we don't get no respect" crowd of Houston fans, but that was pretty blatant. What other NBA champ didn't get the cover of SI? Sharing billing with a fishing trip with Ted Williams? Really?? Also, the Twice Is Nice issue was only sold in Houston and wasn't mailed out to subscribers. I still have mine...
