Anyone here a gambler like me? How often do you bet? What was your biggest win. Mine was 150 for one game. I've been a successful gambler so far in my 1 and half year but can't say I'm a professional. I've made about 500 dollars so far. I know this pocket change for some of you guys here but it helps me pay bills. Do you gamble onsite or online? How often do pick the underdog to win? Do you usually play with the spread or the over and under or both?

I dont gamble but I have a friend who lives in Abq that goes to the Sandia Casino there and all he does (other then eat their buffet) is play slots. And he wins alot more then he loses, I was surprised. He's won over $600 on one jackpot before. Sounds pretty cool. Would be exciting to win that kind of money.

I hate to lose and don't love to win.

My self flagellation over mistakes, and losses to bad luck exceed my enjoyment of the adrenalin.

Yeah I sport bet alot, however my bread and butter is on MMA fights. My biggest win was a few weeks ago when Silva faced Fedor

    Silva to Beat Fedor
    Risk US$ 200.00 to win US$ 700.00

I post my picks and keep track on my facebook, right now I'm up 844.09 for the year and have made money on every real card.

Tonights card isn't a great betting card and there's no real decent underdog bets. However here's my picks

Ross "The Real Deal" Pearson to beat Spencer "The King" Fisher
    Risk US$ 30.00 to win US$ 15.26

Riki Fukuda to beat Nick "The Promise" Ring
    Risk US$ 15.00 to win US$ 11.54See More

Tiequan "The Mongolian Wolf" Zhang to beat Jason Reinhardt
    Risk US$ 16.00 to win US$ 5.15

Chris "The Crowbar" Tuchschererto beat Mark "Super Samoan" Hunt
    Risk US$ 20.00 to win US$ 7.40

Jackpot #1 7 fight parlay (Plausible)
Chris Tuchscherer, Tiequan Zhang, Ross Pearson, Riki Fukuda, Alexander Gustafsson, George Sotiropoulos and Jon Fitch to all win
    Risk US$ 5.00 to win US$ 49.27See More

Jackpot #2 10 fight parlay (Very Un-likely yet completley possible)
Tiequan Zhang, Tom Blackledge, Ross Pearson, Riki Fukuda, Alexander Gustafsson, Kyle Noke, Chris Lytle, George Sotiropoulos, Jon Fitch, Chris Tuchscherer to all wn
    Risk US$ 1.00 to win US$ 29.91

I usually have back-up bets compromised of 2 to 3 fight parlays however I don't feel like laying them down tonight. A great bet would be to place a bet for Fitch to win with a back-up bet that BJ will win inside the distance. Either way you would come out ahead, I don't see BJ winning a decision even though there are only 3 rounds so it's very safe
The thing about my bets tonight which are normal is especially with the parlays it's almost like I'm living and dieing with a few fighters which isn't recommended, yep tonight is more for having fun with the expendable winnings instead of playing the safe route of sports betting. For example, I want Mark Hunt to win pretty bad, so if I drop 20 on Chris to beat him- win or lose I walk away a winner!! And since Chris is a favorite and Hunt looked fat in weigh in's I just decided to throw him in the Jackpot mix- it's 6 dollars who cares.

i do, more online than in vegas. don't really feel like throwing out specific numbers. I make a lot on pro football, next most on MLB.. mess around here and there with basketball (nba and ncaa) even though i think i know the most about the nba out of all the sports. And ncaa football once in a while also.

For college, it just takes a lot more research to be able to bet it properly (for me)...and i don't feel like putting that time in anymore. It makes it less enjoyable

    I'm a dink & dunk online sports gambler. Turned $20 into $700 in a year. 50% NCAA football, 45% NFL, 5% NBA.

Went through a few runs. First couple was fine and next couple ended up ok at the end. Biggest bet was on an 8 game NCAA parlay that net something ridiculous. I literally quit as soon as that went through. The reason is that I'm a numbers guy and it doesn't really take much to figure out that the numbers usually stack against you.

I started off doing stuff like betting 5, if I lose, then 10, then 20, then 40, etc, so if I win those "50/50" games I'll be 5 ahead an d I start over again. Imagine how that could easily get out of hand if the coin flips the other way a few times. I got lucky in the sense that it never got completely out of hand.

I seriously suggest that this stuff is only done to add a little bit of interest watching a big game. I turned out ahead, but based mostly on luck and a couple of educated guesses. There's no such thing as a sure thing. Also, I sometimes watch these, for lack of a better term, morons bet like 10000 to win 800 on a "can't lose" situation only to sweat it when a potential "upset of the century" takes place. I just don't think it's ever worth betting if you can't laugh off losing whatever you're betting.

Get out while you can. The chances of you winning over the long term is slim to none.

That's like saying get out of the stock market. Sports betting is no different., you're making a prediction about future events.

This isn't slots where it's a mathematical certainty that the odds are against you.

I use betus.com, but I think bodog.com is one of the most popular. They all seem pretty similar to me.

Just start with an amount you know you can afford, and don't add anything to it. If you lose what you put in, stop. Don't gamble to recoup losses, gamble with disposable income only.

If you want to just try it out casually, try centsports.com. They give you a free dime to start out with, and if you earn a certain amount you can cash out. You can always start over with another free dime. It's a good way to practice without risk.

I'm not going to get into this discussion any further, but no, it's not the same as trading securities.

I feel I'm quite successful in the stock market and sports betting. Both have similarities and differences, I do feel sports betting is riskier however just as you need to foresee trends with stocks (if you trade often). It's extremely similar to the fight game. A patient good counter puncher with more reach with great take down defense facing off with an aggressive stand-up fighter who doesn't throw many leg kicks yet has tons of power however seems to leave openings is a trend I have seen plenty of times and leaves me to believe the first fighter will win. The bet?
Fighter #1 to win with a back-up bet that fighter #2 wins within the distance.

It's about trends really with both stocks and bets. The the example above you can see is a huge similarity, stocks and bets can both we low risk.
