Such a terrible day - so many families in my community were tied to Nasa in some way and everyone knew someone who was very close to the disaster. I remember being interviewed with my mom for one of the newscasts - the reporter asked me something about how everyone was doing at school. It was really weird that we weren't watching the launch that day -- some classes were I'm sure. Shuttle launches had become so routine by then, but having the whole 'teacher in space' deal made that launch a little more special. It's just so strange to think about something that happened 25 years ago and it still seems so fresh - the only thing that compares is 9/11 and that of course was surreal on a whole new level.
