durr, that means the kid only had 1 seat. i think he should've been kicked off and told he would need to call his parents to have them purchase an extra ticket.

or just make airline seats bigger?

I agree, as a guy who is moderatly overweight, I can not imagine being so big as to need two seats.

I had a guy who worked for me who was huge......and whenver we traveled, I would just not sit next to him because it was like sitting next to Hagrid....just overbearing.

It didn't matter much though, I am up in the front of the plane most trips, but whenever I was in cabbage, I would just sit a few rows over.....

Comfort is very important when traveling..IMO.

I have said this before....but here goes again.

I am a 300lb dude....I feel for people sitting next to me, esp if they too have a larger than normal build. I can lower the armrest..and I will try to squish in so I don't get on "your half".

    Still

Stinky people who don't shower- 1 ticket
People with kids who SCREECH the whole flight-1 ticket plus one ticket per kid
White knuckle fliers who engage you in nervous conversation the whole darn flight- 1 ticket.

I shouldn't have to pay for more than one ticket either....I don't eat 2 XL pizzas for lunch every day, I walk at a track for a minimum of 45 minutes daily, I am a nice person and I always help people out when I can...I am just fat.

I don't have a problem with that...if it was an extra 30-40 bucks, maybe more for an expensive flight.

I don't think Airlines will do it unless they really gouge us though.

Probably not, they are trying to squeeze every body into a plane that they can.

because there would be "outrage" by the fat community. They would talk about how they are being targeted...how it's discrimination, etc.

Everyone is offended these days......maybe they could have a weigh in like they do with baggage.

tis the age we live in...people are just thin skinned whinners who squeeze and cry at the slightest things.

as for the weigh in...really you just need a "walk-through". if you can walk through these to vertical bars without touching them with your hips, then you only need one seat.

If you do touch, an alarm will sound off with flashing lights. But instead of a siren noise, the sound of a squeezing pig will be played.

    LMAO.

A "fat row" would be great. Unfortunately, planes that depart from the South would have more fatter people than average, I think, versus those in the north or west (NYC, San Francisco).

I really think they should charge people per pound. If me + my bags weigh less than a fatty + their bags, I shouldnt have to pay more because I have extra weight in my bags than them. You're still using more gas to lift the fatty than me and my bag.

It wouldn't work out from a revenue standpoint. On a medium sized aircraft (737), economy has 6 seats, 3 on each side. Imagine those seats cost $500 each on average (I say average because we know how fares change rapidly). That's $3,000 in revenue.

Now you change those 6 seats to 4 larger seats for larger people. In order to realize the same revenue, you'd have to charge $750 per seat (which I doubt fat people would pay seeing as it's 50% more expensive) AND you'd have to guarantee you'd get the demand for those seats... that is, you'd have to expect 4 fat people to show up for every flight and be willing to pay 50% more for a ticket.

Like someone said earlier, a fat person requiring two seats is not a frequent thing. Converting a whole row for those people is gouging your revenue on that aircraft. It's just not feasible.

I've sat by 300-lb guys on a flight before, and I'm not small myself (225 lbs). Hell, my brother weighs 295 and has legs as big as Earl Campbell's, and I've sat by him on a flight. It's less comfortable, but it's not unbearable. I don't think it's you that should be forced to buy an extra seat. You can mostly fit inside your seat. But if you were 400+ lbs, you should be. It's no longer a matter of comfort, it's a matter of fit. If two guys my size and a 400-lb guy try to sit in the same row, it won't work. We can't fit at all.
