They don't want to win .... No sense keeping him around if he's not in the plans for the future.

I think people here should seriously temper expectations down on him being a player "that can just drain threes". The guy only started to shoot 3s in the last few years and he's shooting around 32% this season and has been shooting around 32% for his career. He would be an intriguing pick up for sure, but I question the idea of bringing him in to be anything resembling a 3-pt specialist. If you're idea is for him to assume the Anderson role, then I don't think you've seen the type of player Lopez is.

I like him against a team like the Spurs. Gives us a chance to go strength on strength against them.

Just because Lopez shoots threes doesn’t make him a stretch 5... he is a terrible 3 point shooter and if he is taking those shots for us we will be screaming at the TV and the opposing teams will be praying that he keeps shooting.

He was DEFINITELY their best player when he was there.

Much different scheme and Brooklyn was terrible the entire time he was there. He's a guy who made a living on offense in the mid-range and post and pretty much never shot 3s his first 6 years in the league. He was the go to guy on their offense and I'm not certain he can have that same impact on the Rockets. I'd take Lopez for minimum money to see what he could do, but I definitely wouldn't expect him to become an integral part of the team unless he's going to start playing like he's never played in his career up to this point.

My clearest memories of him in Brooklyn/NJ were that he was always hurt and hated rebounds.

He had the D-Mo rebounding technique, box out for PG's.

    No need.

Guys we got to realize we’re the clear cut 2nd best team, and we’re close to being the best. Adding brook Lopez doesn’t do anything to help us beat the warriors, he is a solid player but I don’t see him being the answer to GS.

Can't get anyone better than that in a buyout. Most of the potential buyout candidates are in the same boat.

We get poor production from the 5 whenever Clint isn't on the floor. Nene has been extremely incosistent this year. Sometimes solid, other times downright awful. He's a step slow. Tarik Black really struggles with the offense.

Upgrading those minutes would be helpful, especially for the veteran's minimum. Costs us nothing, gives us better production for 20 minutes than we have right now. Why WOULDN'T we do that?

Especially since it would allow us to finally trade Capela for Thon Maker.

This is called complacency. We might be the second best team, but Nene has clearly taken a step back now, and we have no other big men who are capable of giving solid minutes. If you can nab someone of Lopez's caliber on the cheap, there's no reason not to do it.
