Thus why I said it hinges on how Sacramento values Dieng. Who knows...they are legendary for having "different" valuations on players than the rest of the league...lol. I agree with your earlier point. I'd rather keep Tucker and send out 2 1st. It's an all-in move, but it's "All In Move" time. There's almost no potential for cap space over the next 4 years, and while anything can happen, it's hard to see a better option popping up in the near future.
The Kings are not after JB? [ESPN - Wojnarowski] But the list of organizations interested in talking further with Minnesota is significant, league sources said: Brooklyn, Detroit, Houston, the LA Clippers, Miami, Philadelphia, Portland and Sacramento are among the teams interested in probing for deals. FYI, Bogdanovic had surgery again (left knee): Spoiler: Kings' Bogdan Bogdanovic
I looked at this earlier. I'm not sure they have the right pieces for a 2 or 3 way deal. 5 of their top 6 paid players are overpaid relative to their value (Dragic being the lone exception), so if Dieng must be in the deal, either Minnesota or a 3rd team has to accept junk. Miami can't include any picks in a deal, so they'd have to attach Winslow, Richardson or Adebayo just to unload the bad contract. Then you have to deal with salary matching for Butler, plus whatever assets Minnesota would require. And when I say 5 of their top 6 paid players are overpaid...in most cases I mean DRAMATICALLY overpaid: Whiteside: $26 million per for next 2 years T Johnson: $19 million per for next 2 years J Johnson: $15 million per for next 3 years Olynyk: $13 million per for next 3 years Waiters: $12 million per for the next 3 years When you compare their potential offer to Houston's, it's bad salaries + players with not huge upsides vs. good salaries and picks.
Just to add a little more to this, I'd put Dieng in roughly the same category as the rest of these guys...i.e. bench players on a playoff team or starters on a lottery team. So if you're Minnesota, what's the point in swapping Dieng for any of these players? If Houston can facilitate a 3 team deal with Sacramento, that is clearly the better offer. But even if not, then Miami certainly can't either and it comes down to who has the better deal for Butler straight up. I'd put Gordon, who is a better player on a better contract than any of Miami's players. The only way Miami might be able to "beat" Houston is if they go the all-in route: Richardson, Winslow and Adebayo for Butler.
Seems like 32-34 year of age would be appropriate for Morey. 29 is still too young. He is gonna get there. Just get him here.
Would make for an awkward Media Day for EGo if he found out he was traded. If Minny agrees to a trade during the photo sessions would we just kicked him out of the room?
Dont think Butler would wanna come off the bench like Gordon.... plus we'd need to throw in more bones to entice MN to do the trade, not to mention pony up to lock in Butler long term, I'd say mission impossible.
